    candida

hi guys, first post here...not sure if its in the right section?

i have been looking on your site for information to do with the link between Candida and steroids

I have had abdominal distension, reflux, nausea, ibs, hives, fatigue, toenail fungus, dandruff, skin complaints, herpes simplex (at least i think it is herpes simplex...the doc said it was, but never tested me)....the list goes on...these symptoms have been with me (some longer than others) for years

so i got a test done

amongst a whole host of food intolerances, i have Candida and leaky gut

now this comes as no surprise as i have had a lifetime of anti biotics...anabolic steroids for 10years+, diclofenic for my inflamed sacro-illiac, and anti viral drug (famvir) for the genital herpes simplex

so now i am on meat, veg and olive oil....with nothing but water...to try starve out the Candida

i am taking strong pro biotics twice a day... butyric acid and caprilic acid, along with garlic, digestive enzymes, fish oils and immune boost multi vit/min

    my problem is this

i need the anti inflams to play football

i also play Oline and need steroids to step up to the line in the division our team plays in

how bad are steroids and anti inflams with a condition i have?

if i take them....will triple doses of bifidus stop my intestine leaking?

Also, is it only oral steroid which promote Candida, or injectable steroids as well?

are the supps i am taking enough to kill the candida, and heal the leaky gut?

when i am better....will i ever be able to use anti inflams and steroids again?

    any help is much appreciated

    regards james wright

Damn man you have a host of frickin problems!!.....are all of your conditions the result of steroids?

    1) you dont get herpes from steroids....genital and oral herpes is an STD......
    2) Candida is actually a fungus, so your doc should perscribe you some anti-fungal antibiotics and it should take care of it.....
Women get vaginal yeast infections from Candida, candida is common yeast infections in women.....

I dont think anti inflamms will help for the candida....u need antibiotics or anti fungal cream for that......

    thanks for your input

its not the herpes caused by steroids, rather the low imune system which causes very frequent outbreaks (every 1-2 months)

also, i had the anti fungal tablets (terbinafine hydrochloride i think)....it worked, but came back afetr a few months

    not a troll post no

i posted on this forum as there is an article by clayton south all about candida on the main bb'ing.com website

i thought someone here might have some idea of the candida/steroid link

doctors in the uk just give you drugs to stop the symptoms, but they never go away once you stop the medecine!!!

    there is candida info here

    http://www.nationalcandidacenter.com...t/thankyou.php

but nothing talking aboutif you can use them again once you beat the illness

no one seems to know anything definative

Glutamine is supposed to be the best way to cure leaky gut, so it would be a good idea to start taking it if you're not already. If you are already taking it you could try increasing your dosage. Once the leaky gut is cleared up, the food intolerances should clear up to a large extent as well as the alergies are probably caused by large molecules of food seeping into your bloodstream without being digested properly as a result of the leaky gut.

The three problems are all related - the candida, the leaky gut and the alergies, so once you get the candida under control with probiotics and the leakly gut under control with glutamine (glutamine helps fight candida too) the food intolerances should go away. As for the steroids, they promote candida growth, so up the glutamine and probiotics accordingly to balance them out

    Wink

Just off the top of my head I would think that prolonged Steriod use & anti biotics would compromise your Digestive systems integrety as well as put quite a strain on your liver. With the digestive system down & liver enzymes depleted you should really lay off the "Gear". until you have your leaky gut & Candida under control. Continuing to do the same as you always have and just adding pro biotics, etc.. will only help minimally.

A reaaly good book to read is called Cracking the Metabolic Code. It has tons of great info & is an awesome resource. (Really good section on Candida.)

If you want 2 Awesome products to help with inflammation I suggest are both by Labrada Nutrition: Sorenzyme & Elasti-Joint.

    Best of Luck!!!
