If they stand next to a bodybuilder do they look small? I mean like the arms and chest? Also if they would cut down would they look like a bodybuilder?
Sorry for my noob question, but this is something that is been in my mind for years.

How do professional weightlifters physiques compare to professional bodybuilders?

Comparing the two visually is almost like apples to oranges as far as whats important and their goals.
A serious powerlifter only cares about how much they lift, not what they look like. To a pro bodybuider its all about what you look like you can lift and how hard you trained.
Many pros like Dilett were known for lifting granny weights and ballooning up. But then you have Coleman or JJ who lifts very heavy in their workouts and it is their foundation.Keymaster of platinum accounts

Standing next to most power lifters a pro will look huge. And if a power lifter cut down, he would look like a ****ing trucker. He wouldnt look ANYTHING like a bodybuilder. He wouldnt be scrawny because thats not their body type. But he'd be far from a bodybuilder. This is for most power lifers that is. There are of course some who have crazy bodybuilding genetics, and build a lot of quality muscle. But its the exception rather then the rule.

Powerlifters won't look much like bodybuilders if they cut. The arms on powerlifters are generally much smaller and their midsections much bigger. This is almost entirely due to the training style. Heavy compound lifts such as deadlifts and squats have a tendency to widen the midsection. Powerlifters backs also develop differently. Additionally, powerlifters most likely will not have large round muscle bellies as the density of the muscle tissue is different (again due to training style) THis is not to say that a professional powerlifter would not look awesome cut up, just that there's a big difference in shape between the 2 styles of training.

But you posted pics of one of the big beefy fatty powerlifters...anyways, the guys in the pics below this is different. These guys are also bodybuilders. Guys built like that are bodybuilders who also power lift. Guys built like the guys in your first pic are power lifters. No bodybuilding. They would not look like a bodybuilder cut down. Arnold and Franco were both examples of Powerlifters and bodybuilders.

thanks for the post bionic.. i was waiting for someone to post that guy.. his name i forgot. HE looks great from bodybuilding point of view, but still very unique. ill try and track down his "after cutting" back shot, his erectors are absolutely huge, much larger and more dominant than most bodybuilders.

Nah, Bodybuilders lift for muscle and professional weightlifters aren't quite as balanced, they lift for explosiveness. I personally prefer strongman type physiques over bodybuilders as long as the strongman isn't fat. But plain and simple you put a bodybuilder next to an olympic lifter he will more than likely look bigger, but if you put a bodybuilder next to a 6'4-6'7 Strongman, and the bodybuilder will look much smaller. Talking about the elite level in all the sports, but certainly if the strongman was to try and compete in a bodybuilding competition he would lose, even if he was to cut because the way they train doesn't create a lot of definition or seperation, just look at Pudz's quads in this years World's Strongest man car carry, his quads are huge and full of veins but they just look like thick muscle with not very much separation.
