Well, I think most of us have been in the gym long enough to realize there is a difference between being a bodybuilder and just wanting the body.
We probably train for a lot of reasons the younger group would not understand. We have learned over the years about the true benefit of the mind/body connection you achieve by challenging your self...it's all about the journey.
I'm amazed by the number of young people in my gym who train over a long period of time, and don't really know what they are doing. They never read a book and take every suggestion as if it were the true and last word in BB.
I don't know if any of you have read Dave Drapper's new book, Brother Iron, Sister Steel, but god it was wonderful to read a book written by a lifetime bodybuilder, who to this day "loves" the iron. It's the first book I've read that describes the joy in it, not just the form and results.
If you never got another inch on your bicep, or never got any bigger or stronger, would you give up training? Not I.
I am 48... I think that counts as an "old gal" ... what the devil was the dessicated liver tabs about?? ... and yes I would much rather be with a man of 47 than a 27
i'm 37 and remember travelling interstate (before the Ben Johnson Winstrol incident) and in the side compartment of my carry-on bag was enough juice with needles and syringes to last me 6 weeks. it was checked by airport staff and i was told to have a nice stay. if that was a modern day occurrence it probably would have resembled the "Midnight Express" airport scene. women in the Gym was so rare that my Gym didn't even have womens facilities. and yes, liver was THE supplement you never were without. ah, the good old days. I was arguing with some female co-workers who were saying I'd probably like a young chick to cavort with. I insisted I would not. My wife, who is 53, is tuned in to me and knows where to go and what to do. And really loves me.
Why should I take on a rooky and a lot of trouble?
Its hard enuf to find someone who you can really get in tune with..
Stick w/what got ya there and what makes u happy..
But a lil young spice once in awhile never hurt anything ya know...
Depends on yer situation and what you like I guess.

Oh the good old days - heck kids, I remember when the number one BB suppliment was milk. When I was just a youngster of 15 summers I went to a beautiful exciting southern california beach and there I met this guy ... my god he was huge. He took the time to straighten me out on a few things about weight lifting and how to get as big as he was ... number one suppliment ... milk, yep Steve Reeves drank milk.
Question is: are you really going to mind if you hit your goals without puking 3 times a week?

Well, I'm 41 & not allowed to date. If I were looking, though, I'd probably consider the 35 to about 46 range. It's difficult to know just by age -- they have to have a good heart (& shoulders & legs & butt. . . ha,ha,ha) Anyway, too young is definitely out for me!
Not allowed..LOL LOL
Too young usually means theres not much to talk about..
Which means it will go nowhere..

Give up training, no way. The size and strength is just the part of it for me. I love the feel of lifting, the pump is an addiction for me, and the stress relief. When I walk out of that gym everything is ok with the world, then I have to go to work and screw that all up.
So yes, I would and will continue to train even after the gains stop.
Here are two important reasons why I'm not allowed! The third good looking reason wasn't around to photograph at the time! Aren't they sweet? Merry Christmas!!
Nice family Hibiscus !!!
Hope u have a Merry Christmas..
