    Magnesium Right Before Bed?

I have started taking a magnesium, calcium, zinc supplement with breakfast and my ppwo meal. I have read about magnesium's effect on helping one sleep. Would it be effective to take a pill like 10 min before I go to bed with water w/o any food, even though I will have eaten about 1.5 hours prior? Thanks.

Best time to take is about 30 min before bedtime. If you are taking any multivitamin/mineral, I'm sure it probably has a smaller dosage of zinc+mag+cal and you should take this in the morning upon waking up.

I was 'suggesting' ZMA . zinc+mag+cal isn't ZMA to start with.

This isn't necessarily true. In high doses, calcium does make zinc absorbtion difficult, but at a normal level, calcium can be taken with zinc.

If calcium has been proven to hinder the absorbtion of Zinc, then I wouldn't take any type of calcium with it, even if its a lower dose.

It is recommended to take 3 capsules of ZMA 30-60min prior to going to sleep. 3 capsules of ZMA would be 90mg of Zinc. To me, that is above normal.

ahh everyone started talking about zma! he's not taking ZMA, he's taking one of those zinc+mag+cal supps (he literally said this). they are NOT marketed in any way similar to ZMA!

trying to get back on track, my answer is i don't know. you can surely take it at bedtime but it may not necessarily help you sleep better.

i've been taking zinc mag n vit c before bed at a dosing of 50:800:2000 (mg), pretty much doubling up on the mag trying to reap that relaxant effect. i have to say it works well, i wake up early most days, before my alarm even goes off. i also experienced this while taking zma, although of course it was more expensive. some days though i'm still tired as hell when i wake up, so i can attribute that to just having to empty the ol' bladder.

i give mag a thumbsup at bedtime

in zma, i heard its magnesium that gets you sleepy. is it?

do you need to worry about calcium timing when taking magnesium alone? Zinc ain't for me as it gives me bad ass pimples.

Magnesium Glycinate is supposed to be a great, absorbable form. I actually take 400mg 3xday for it's calming and anti-anxiety effects. It also has a mild anti-depressant effect.

Take the serving recommended on the label. Sounds like 3 pills which is the most common.
