If what you mean gain lean mass, then yes oatmeal will help you pack on some muscle. Good carb choice.

Yeah, I was just wondering if it would be godo to have some before bed.

I know a lot of people say no carbs before sleeping...I never really followed that though.

I like to have a decent amount before bed. Really how much weight does once expect to put on with say 40g of carbs from oatmeal.

I typically stay away from carbs before bed. I usually do a casein shake w/ water, add glutamine & flax oil & one scoop of peanut butter. Sometimes I'll just eat no fat cottage cheese & 1/4 cup unsalted almonds. All depends on what you are attempting to achieve.

As long as it fits into your macros it shouldn't be a problem. Best eaten around your workout, but it really shouldn't hurt you.

Consider that you need less energy throughout the night! If you are on a bulking diet, it could be that the carbs will be stored as fat while you sleep. So it could increase you body fat. If you want to avoid this, stay away from carbs lately. But in general it should be no problem if it fits in your macro's, as "berzerker" mentioned before.

But eating oats is always much better than eating chocolate or other foods with a lot of sugar. Sugar produces an insulin spike which eases the body to store excessive calories as fat.

True, oatmeal is a good choice of carbs, especially for bulking.

There is nothing like a nice bowl of oatmeal, good carbs, moderate protein and low fat. Improved with some raisins and honey or a sliced apple and banana with cinamon it is numinous
