    Cutting = Lower Sex Drive ?

    Well iv been cutting for a while now, and one thing i have noticed is that my sex drive has dropped a bit. Is this possibly from the depreciation in sat fats ? causing my test to go down or something ?

    Hmm, this is very interesting I feel the same way. I have been cutting now for about 13 weeks and I have seen a decrease in my sex drive as well. any other imput would be helpful.

    This is a completely natural thing. Test levels and especially libido often (but not necessarily always) decrease during times of pronounced caloric deficit. From a "sociobiological" point of view low calories = low food ressoures = no good time to make children, because there is not enough food to feed them.

    And you are absolutely right, a very low fat-intake, especially with very low sat. fats will decrease cholesterol production. Most diets are also rich in fibers, which additionally "suck" large amoubts of cholesterol from gallbadder juice and put it away from the enterohepatic cylce. This adds to a deprivation of total body cholesterol levels, which in turn will lead to decreased synthesis of steroid hormones, since cholesterol is the "mother" of all steroids.

    High intake of Omega3- FA and lignans (such as from sesamin) are also reported to lower libido.

    I am cutting, trying to run an approx. 300-500 calorie deficit every day and my sex drive is still fine. I still get lots of carbs and healthy fats, but I am also taking testosterone replacement therapy which makes my libido super-strong anyway.

    Not always. A lot of people say upping your amount of dietary fats from 20% or less of your daily calories to about 30% helps support it. Just a theory, but worth a try!
