    Wrestling weight class?

    Im 166 atm, and climbing fast (140 in early october), i was planning on going to 175, then back to 162-163 by june, then do strength training for a month or two. my question is, should i just go for 171 weight class, just really lean, or go for 189, since i can grow fast if i put my head in it.

    You'd prolly have trouble at 189 cuz most of those guys are 200-205 in the offseason and usually are RB's or LB's in football and are very strong.(well in the ones I know anyways)

    I'd just lift your ass off and get around 160-171 when the season comes around

    Generally speaking, lower is better, as your strength-to-weight ratio is higher. That being said, there are a decent amount of "fat kids" at 189 in high school (moreso than at 171). If you feel you are quick AND strong, 189 might be a better choice for you. Of course, there are also a lot of really strong guys there too.

    However... don't aspire to 189. There's nothing particularly special or easy about that weight class, really, and if it's a stretch then you're putting yourself at a disadvantage. Work on your power and strength, and you will naturally fall into a certain weight class.

    im 112-119 now season just ended, im guna try and go 119 or 125 next year but its guna be hard to stay a low weight
