Cool Pic from my boat..Thought it was a log...Then I saw the ears!
Yeah the lake I take my annual fishing trip up to is made of 5 bays, with a main bay that connects all of them... It's up in Chippewa National Forest, and the lake is low on human habitation... So often times Deer will end up on one side of a bay or peninsula and will swim from one point on the mouth of a bay to the other.
The strangest one was when we were there during a New Moon... Dark as hell at night, standing out on the end of the dock watching the stars... All of sudden we hear some splashing from shore... One guy hits his big light, and points it... There's a Doe and her yearling getting out of the water, and tromping off into the woods... Considering the angle and small bay, they must have swam within 30-40 feet of us when we were at the end of the dock.
But that's the cool thing about that area, with such low human population the deer aren't as skitish as most. I've gotten so close I almost touched one last year!

yea good neighborhood quiet lots of old folks..who are pretty cool to talk to a lot have seen a lot of things. my favorite is this older fellow who loves baseball as do i. has all kinds of cards and memorabilia. i could listen to him talk forever. he has a gift for tellin a good story.

Couple of years ago my buddy and I saw one swimming the Tennessee. We idled behind it across the river. He came up on the other side, shook off, looked at us and bolted.....He had no idea we were behind him. I guess he was concentrating on swimming.
