I believe that Winchester is going out of business so Im looking at one of them for collectors value, as for optics Ive turned into a Zeiss kind of guy. I got a zeiss on my 22-250 and I love it!

Zeiss...high dollar... too much for this poor boy...LOL! I have been impressed with Simmons and Bushnell as of late.

Whoa....hold on a minute!!!!!!!! Where did you hear about Winchester going out of buisiness??
Ziess optics are nice, but I prefer Swarovski or Leuopold. Burris makes some damn fine scopes, too.

Ya I heard it from my dad and a guy from Bass Pro and they are both positive its true. The value of their guns is skyrocketing, everyones out buying one now. I will be joining them. As far as optics Swarovski are amazing! But a little to expensive for my blood. Leuopold are wonderful, but I found that I like Zeiss a little more when Im in the field.

I am a total gun newb (been shooting twice) but I will be purchasing one within half a year (by the time im 21). I found this faq after searching for the winchester 3030.
So far I am looking at a 12 gauge shotgun, possibly a mossberg. A browning .22. An AR-15 (after I leave California). And a Mauser 98. Also a Sig-Sauer is on the table. Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated either pertaining to what gun I should buy or where I can receive good training with it. Thanks.
I like to deadlift.
Still getting swole off bread and water.

If you're new to shooting and looking at a 12 guage may I suggest the Benelli Nova? It's a good quality beginner-level pump shotgun. Only about $285. It depends on if you're getting the gun for hunting, home defense etc.

The Shotgun would be for home defense. The mauser would be for hunting/fighting invading troops/target practice. Sig Sauer would be for carry/defense. The 22 would be for plinking and foraging/messing around.

I like my 7mm-08 Remm with leuopold scope. I just ordered my custom Illuimnated leuopold for it, I can't wait for it to get in. This is my deer rifle.
I also like my .223 for woodchucks.

You want a Ruger 10/22. Best semi auto .22 there is. My dad, grandpa, and myself all have one. THings never jam.
Nothing beats my old Winchester 1894. I can't help it to think of John Wayne and cowboy movies when I am holding that thing. It's a fun rifle to shoot regardless. I have more powerful rifles, slicker, nicer, the lever action is just fun.

I dunno, a Henry Lever Action is awful tough to beat. I wouldn't mind a nice .45-70.

Here are my 2 favorite home rifles and handguns. British Enfield with 18" bayonet and the Ruger 10-22 with Nikon 10x20 optics. Colt Gold Cup National Match and a Sig Sauer P-220 in .45 ACP.

How on earth could you pick a favorite? A favorite in class, definately but different rifles do different things. There is no way I could just pick one rifle because I would be blasting some things to smithereens or undergunned.
plinking/little stuff - 10-22 with the same 4x simmons my grandfather had on it
Defense/vermin - Bushmaster xk15 with 16" match barrel and m4 stock
Serious defense/combat - g-5
Hunting medium game - remington 742 in .243 (1/4" groups with this jewel but damn heavy)
Hunting medium/large game - ruger 77 in 7mag
Hunting large/dangerous game (long range) - ruger 77 in .338 win mag
Hunting large dangerous game (short range) marlin guide gun in 45/70
Hope I never have to pick just one because I would feel handicapped.

Like the Ruger, I have the same thing only with a Simmons 3x9.
