Power Tower with assisted dip station and paralell pull up

    Hi,

Im new here and am looking to purchase a power tower so that I can do pull ups and dips.

The problem is that Im not strong enough to do dips without assistance so am looking for a power tower that has this feature. I also need something that has a parallel pull up station where my head goes between the bars as I find when I have to raise my head above a straight bar my necks starts to hurt.

The only unit ive seen so far that fits my criteria is this one by Golds Gym -http://www.sportsauthority.com/sm-golds-gym-platinum-assisted-power-tower--pi-3248894.html

I would purchase this one but theres ones problem- the dip bars are too wide and flimsy and they hurt my wrist and shoulders when I use it. Is there a way to modify the bars to better suit my needs?

Please let me know any suggestions id like to keep it around $200-$250

Are you completely new to lifting? Dips are hard for beginners. Do you have any other equipment? As you get stronger from doing other chest work you'll eventually be strong enough to do dips. The other option is to do negative dips, meaning get yourself into the top position of a dip by standing on something (chair, upside down bucket, etc.) and then lower yourself back down under control and repeat for a full set.
