How much weight gain is due to creatine?

I've only been working out seriously for about a year now, so I'm still kind of getting a feel for it.

I've been seriously bulking up for the last 2 months. At one point in december I weighed 165 lbs - today I'm at 185 lbs... but I wonder how much of that is due to creatine? I've been drinking like a gallon of water each day, and I know water weighs 1kg/L. So a gallon of water ends up weighing almost 9 lbs. Of course you sweat and urinate alot of this out. How much weight would I be expected to lose if I stopped taking creatine?

Im kind of in the same boat...I've been taking creatine for about 1 1/2 months and am thinking I will use it for 1/2 month more than take a month off, is that what most ppl do? or do they simply stay on it for longer?

If you are referring to bloating, then it depends on the type of creatine. mono is more likely to cz bloat but you can usually tell as you will feel bloated. CEE is less likely to cz bloat. If you mean water retention within muscle then it would just be the wt you gained shortly after starting to use creatine (muscle mass will not likely increase in a few days), if you are keeping your muscles saturated this should not vary much (until you gain muscle).

Additionally, cycling creatine is not necessary.

No long term studies have been conducted as yet. It is neither true, nor false. We quite frankly just don't know yet. Very unlikely, yet a possibility.

True, long term studies are lacking. I have not seen any valid mechanisms to support that assertion. Until I see the research to support it I will consider it a myth. I have used Cr for 5+ yrs w/o any probs or worrisome Cr lab values.
