hi...
i decided to start this thread to help those on / off ovt who have / need advice and are willing to ask / give advice...
in case you want to know what Optimized Volume Training is about, here we go:
http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle.do?article=257ovt2
having said WHAT OVT is about, i thought that i'd mention this: i'm on OVT, week 1 so far...
i did 3 weeks of OVT then fell sick for a week (fever, dehydration, stomach upset, u know: the works) and lost 2.5 kgs in 5 days and and now i'm back...
anyways, i hope others join in here...
i'll post my weekly progress report btw..
peace

well... i posted that after i finished one block of OVT.... i did the first block for 6 weeks, not 4 as instructed, and when i stated Block 2, i was swarmped with exams and tests... so being pressed for time, i could not afford to spend 4 days a week at the gym... i needed an alternate day program so i sarted Mark Rippetoe's program...
oh, there have been good results... PM JRX and he'll say he added 30 lbs in 3 months of doing it...
lol Fryzie... your not gonna get anywhere trying to dig up my past...

So Andalite do you think i could go on such a program some time during the year
"i dont know man i try to maintain low bw and gain stregth because what good is stregth if your using half of it to move your body. high stregth plus low body weight equals intense explosion. i think a guy like irish kid or gray horse would mess bs up in a fight due to kickness and probably better punch stregth explosion. i still wouldnt wanna fight bser though hed wreck me due to the size advantage and my legs arent up to par to make me a stregth conter" Sickonstorm

keeping that in mind, you can screw around like mad with the exercise selection..
also, with this program you WILL hit a plateau... so its best to change exercises every 4-6 weeks... thats why its divided into "blocks"

Gbc
This training is also similar to OVT. The name GBC stands for German Body Compisition. Though it's aimed more at fat loss i thought a few people may like to read it.

Andalite im not enjoying 3x5 at all. Been looking at progress journals and the general consensus is that basically bicep and tricep growth is minimal, leg growth is massive and so is back.
From what i have seen with progress pics anyway. These results make sense as squats and back exercises form the major part of the program. Imagine if we added the protocols of 5x5 onto other bodyparts couple that with some imaginative workouts and what do you get :::
OVT pretty much.
OVT i think will be my friend again. Designed for optimum hypertrophy for a totally aesthetic physique. Which 5x5 and variations upon it wernt designed for just designed for performance above all else.
Which is why im going back to good old OVT

its true.... with 3x5 you dont get ANY fcuking arm growth...
thats why this is what i plan on doing:
Week 1
Mon: Workout A
Wed: Workout B
Friday: Workout A
Saturday: OVT Style Arms
Week 2
Mon: Workout B
Wed: Workout A
Fri: Workout B
Sat: OVT Style Arms
-----x------
dont quit on 3x5...... and who the FCUK said strength gains are less....? they're fcuking amazing....
JRX, dont break the deal we had....
