Not feeling exhausted after HIT
Hey, ive been doing HIT for about 5 weeks now, and put on a solid 3.5kg (weighed first thing after waking up and going to the toilet), the gains are impressive to say the least, but I never really feel "done" after working out, particulary the shoulders, chest and thighs never feel worked. Im guessing this is just normal for HIT, but it just doesnt feel right, is this common?
im an easygainer.
this is my workout
i do 1 or 2 sets depending on if i truly pushed myself to the max on the 1st
monday:
squat
bench press
bent over row
wide grip sup chin up
standing overhead press
barb curls
triceps pushdown-will swap for skullcrushers
calf raise
friday:
deadlift
leg press
sitting db overhead press
shrug-does not feel effective
close grip bench
barb curl
calf raises
usually at the end of the workout the only bodyparts that feel worked are my arms and traps.

i felt the same way, i felt like i could just get up and do it all over again. me n you are hard to get exhausted, lol, i'm glad i found this program. check it out man, i'll never say i'm not tired after a workout again. for real, after two days, i'm dyin, and could barely walk cause my legs were so tired, but it's not considered to be over training, and it works perfect.

Why do you want to feel exhausted? If you have made those gains then whats the big deal?
Getting exhausted has no connection to muscular growth, I would be happy to be in good condition after I got done working out, so why do you worry?
Just keep doign what you are doing, exhaustion has nothing to do with hypertrophy.

I believe that maybe you could push yourself more on the squats if you're not exhausted after doing them.
I do one set of squats to about 12- 14 reps, 4secs up, 2 secs down, and I can hardly squat down for hours afterwards.
Go all the way down when you squat, so your legs are past horizontal (i was doing pussy squats for a while until I looked in the mirror and realised i wasn't going anywhere near horizontal. It was quite the bruise to my ego to take off 40% of my weight just so I could do more than 2 reps)
When you're at the top of your squat and you know if you go down that you couldn't get back up, go down really slow, as in about a 10 second decline, and (carefully) rest the bar on the support racks (which you've placed about 1 inch below your lowest point).
Have you ever seen Pumping Iron with Arnold Swardsfarfaervnegger? I think it's funny (in a cruel way) watching him do squats with Ed Corney. Helps to motivate me, anyway!
Some people say to superset squats with something like calf raises, but there's no way in hell I could do anything like a respectable set of anything after squats.
However, my other workout when I do DL instead of squats, I certainly don't feel as drained...so i can appreciate what you're saying.

Yeah i know, im gaining fast on HIT, but as i said, im not used to feeling ok after a workout, i suppose its normal for non-volume training. I was just curious, since i read FAQ'S about HIT and i hear people saying how hammered you will be after a HIT workout, but i dont really feel all-out hammered.
OH ALSO i usually do not have anymore than 30secs rest between sets/exercises, could this mean im not able to push it to the limit?(even though i feel fine).

Are you following HIT rules? Are you using the correct tempo? Read my first post in this thread and make sure you are following all of the proper guidelines of HIT: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...threadid=70735
Now, if you want to be more exhausted, for whatever reason, just add more weight. Do 2 sets for all movements (except squats and deads). You will feel exhausted.

Maybe an answer
Just read this at http://www.exrx.net/WeightTraining/L...Training.html.
It seems to help explain why you don`t feel exhausted:
"If an individual is accustom to a high volume program it may be very difficult psychologically to perform only a warm up set and one workout set. It may take months until the veteran is use to the low volume, progressively intense training. The individual who is used to performing multiple sets and many exercises for each muscle group is initially unable to perform a workout set at a great intensity. They have taught themselves, almost unconsciously, to hold back since they are used to performing many exercises and sets. It may require months to teach the body to push itself more intensely. In addition, the type of fatigue experienced after the high intense, low volume training is different than the traditional high volume training. Until they are able to generate more intensity in their workouts, many may feel they are not achieving a productive workout based on this initial lack of fatigue."

People have to remember when doing HIT, you have to go all out on all of your sets with 100%.
