True Life: I'm a competitive eater...kobiyashi jacked?
How the hell is that kobiyashi guy so huge? You'd think these competitive eaters would all be fat or whatever....any of you guys watching this on MTV? It showed the japenese dude squatting 6 plates, benching 405, and deadlifting what looked like 5-6 plates on each side.

I'm watching it for a laugh. At the coney island contest last year he was really skinny, he has put on some serious muscle in such a short time span. Oh by the way he was only doing partial reps. There's no way he could actually perform full repetitions at those weights.

Maybe he needs all the calories to grow. I mean, he prob has one of the highest metabolisms in the world...lol. He's cut too. I just saw the part where he eats like, 5 heaping plates of greasy noodles and stuff. Afterwards, he was all carbed up and his abs bulged out of his sweater!

Haha when he finishes with a competition he's so full his stomach is almost as distended as a GH mass monster's. Crazy. I thought this sport was stupid but he really pushes himself; major credit to him.

Actually, now that I think of it, all of the competitors MTV followed were in good shape. The 22 year old kid eating the hot wings at Hooters looked fairly muscular, as did the day trader guy who competed with Kobiyashi. Either they all have fast metabolisms, or they all train in the gym just as hard and as much as they eat. Kobiyashi said he trained purposely to build muscle to speed up his metabolism. Perhaps competitive eating truly is a sport...

kobyashi was talking about how fat pushes on ur stomach and doesnt allow it to expand enough. i got made respect for the guy, he dedicates his life to this, and thats saying alot right there. stupid sport or not, he works his ass off. he seems really intelligent, or at least his translator makes him seem intelligent.

Keep staring at me tough guy
Although when doing a partial rep only a portion of the rep is completed, it is usually the toughest part, the sticking point. Imagine maxing out on the bench press, would you rather go all the way down to the chest so on the way up, you would have a few inches to get the bar moving before it got the sticking point. Or stop at the sticking point and have to reverse the momentum of the bar during the toughest part. Think about it big guy.

Alright, I might agree that a partial rep in the sense that you are going to the sticking point, stopping, and completing the rep could be harder, but that is not what he was doing (or MTV showed him doing). His partial deadlift was basically standing up and lifting the bar off four inches of the rack. I definately didn't see any more than a four inch range of motion on the bench or squat either.

Whatever the guy is doing, it's obviously working. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a move in competitive bodybuilding in the Asian circuits a few years from now. He's already bigger than 99.9% of the Asian population...lol.

He wasn't trying to do deadlifts.
Since the show isn't about his workouts they just showed a few seconds of him lifting. That was enough, the guy is STRONG and HUGE. He definately has the potential to compete.

Know, he's definitely in very good shape, but huge is not a word I would use. The guy is 5'7" (listed at that, but possibly shorter), and 130-140lbs. He looks naturally ripped, anyway. Besides his stomach be where it is internally, in terms of his physique, it's actually quite average especially considering that he does workout a bit.

You're sure he's only 130-140? His arms look pretty big in the first pic on this post. But, I haven't seen the show. Impressive either way.

Ya I saw that show.
The kobiyashi guy is jacked.
But 1.) genetics 2.) he has a stomach condition where is stomach is at his groin area so he has litarly all the way up to his pecs for his stomach to expand---thus he can fit a huge amount of food in there.
And I think he was doing the excersizes for helping with the streching of his stomach size. Hes very dedicated to the "sport" of food eating--and as a result everything including his workouts deals with helping him in his sport.
I think he was doing just 1 reps. Maxes on everything---although his dip looked pretty heavy.
Yet I wasn't able to really tell what weight he was using---the weights where plastic, but that doesn't make a difference. Unless of course over at the gym hes at in Japan, they have some odd weight system and what looked like 45lbs plates where 25lb plastic weights.
I dunno
but that deadlift was pretty insane...even though it was partial, and just a 1 rep--still that was what looked like 6 plates on each side ~a 580lb dead?
I dunno about that at his weight--if thats the case he should be competing in powerlifting, esspecially for his weight/height.
I'm going to just state this---I HIGHLY doubt it...
but you think hes using the S's?

wow really? that is pretty amazing!
back to the original topic, yeah its pretty amazing how jacked that guy is considering how much he eats. Like most people said, he must have a great metabolism, and his dedication is pretty amazing, must be a sport

When you stuff that much into your stomach at one time you simply can't digest it properly, can't put a number on it but I guess he gets very little useful calories from those binges. I bet his ****s a day or 2 after are really nasty.
