Front vs Back Squat speed?
For the same amount of weight, my front squat is much faster than back squat. I do both lifts as fast as I can and go as low as possible.
Does this mean my hamstrings and glutes are weak?

Mr. Gecko
I have never given a second thought to the relative speed of a front squat to a back squat and I probably never will.

lol...
my front squat is a lil quicker than my back squat.... i think it's due to the uncomfortableness (if that's a word) of having the bar resting on my clavicle/front delts...

how wide was your back squat? My back squat is always slower if i have more of a closer stance. Box squats really help teach you to explode.

hmm, I'm the same way man; I think it might be a number of things, you can acheive better form in the front squat vs the back squat, probably also that you stay more upright so you can get out of the hole by leading with the head alot more; I've been working on staying really upright on the front squat and where I thought I had a big weakness out of the bottom was really just me not leading with my head; I'm still slow when I'm tired of course, but I don't think with a deadlift over 100lbs over your squat that your posterior chain is necessarily weak.

My front squat is faster as well. Of course, when front squatting, I am much closer to the form I use when trying to jump, which results in my being a better anatomical position to accelerate the bar.

Beat me to it.
The fronst squat position is much more in line with you trying to launch yourself.

A lot of the young, light lifters that my weightlifting coach is in charge of have backl squats only 5-10kg over their front squats. I'm not sure exactly why.

Since I just started squatting only a few months ago and training both squats regularly, I'd say my FS max is more than 80% of my BS max.
