I didnt qualify to play D1 Football.......and to avoid sitting out a year Im going D3
I need help....can you guys point me in the right direction.
I screwed up bad..and it turns out I need 48 credits to transfer to the D1 schools I wanted to attend.
I still have 3 years left ...because on my 5 year clock I spent the last 2 at JUCO.
If I go to a D2 school I have to be at the school a full year as a full time student before I can play which means I would miss this year...the same applies for D1.
I talked to some people ON NCAA's hotline..and if I go to a D3 I can play right away and get my credits up at the same time and then transfer.
Can you guys help me out in finding a school..I heard of a school called Mt. Union and theyre suppose to be the best.

I've coached against Mt. Union in the past, and I'm very familiar with the school, conference, and that area of the state. Top notch program no doubt--the only thing you will run into is they have about 200 or so guys competing for a roster spot and playing time. Ohio has a lot of good D3 football programs. Where are you located? Also, have you looked at NAIA?

Didn't Mt. Union have a massive winning streak the last few years, something like 55 games? They are top notch for sure.
If you are looking for a one year commitment as an impact player, nearly any winning D3 school should work. If they are winning, that usually means that have a good behind the scenes system (strength program, etc) that will help you along. I'm only familar with D3 schools in NY and not Ohio unforunately.
Here is a listing of 2006 NAIA schools and their record: http://naia.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl...081606aab.html

These are the schools in Michigan that are NAIA, but I'm not sure which ones have football:

Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Mich.
Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, Mich.
Davenport University, Grand Rapids, Mich.
Madonna University, Livonia, Mich.
Marygrove College, Detroit, Mich.
University of Michigan-Dearborn, Dearborn, Mich.
Siena Heights University, Adrian, Mich.
Spring Arbor University, Spring Arbor, Mich.
You will not have to sit out a year if you go NAIA.
Also, Ohio has over 25 D3 schools with football--if you need a list let me know.

Good luck--just remember:
NAIA=scholarships
D3=no scholarships and usually more expensive tuition and stricter admission standards.
If you have questions on any of the Ohio schools let me know. I coached at 5 of them, so I'm pretty familiar with most of them.

So you didn't end up earning your associates degree? One thing to keep in mind is you're going to lose another year with a transfer if you go D-II/III to D-I.

A really good school in northern Ohio is Ohio Northern University.. See the thing about Mt. Union is EVERYONE wants to play for them, they have like 3 people per number on their team.. lol A good conference you might want to look at is the Ohio Athletic Conference, the NCAC is ok but I just think the top couple teams in teh OAC easily blow away the top teams in teh NCAC which is the other conference in northern ohio... Or you could just come down to Kentucky and play at Thomas More with me.. lol

I was recruited by mount union, and they are also on my current list of schools. They are the winninges program over the last 20 years. I think they have only lost around 10-20 games over that span.

Isnt Albion College a d3 powerhouse in Michigan?
The Wisconsin schools have good programs as well....Wisc-Whitewater, Wisconsin-Lacrosse...etc. etc.
Those two outside of the 30 D3 programs in Ohio would be good fits probably.

I would say no. I don't know the new coach that well, so I am not sure he will be able to turn it around. It's always the same thing every year--they bring in 120-150 kids, have a lot of talent, and underachieve. The OAC is just so tough--the OAC is the SEC of of D3 football--you don't get a week off, even against the weaker teams. Unless you're Mount.......
Do you play for Northern?

Ever consider D2?
Im from michigan and go to GVSU.. Was thinking of football there.. but your basically a piece of meat according to a buncha kids. I know a kid who would have been starting/getting a good amount of plays at saftey.. on scholarship and he quit because it was a job.. He now plays lacrosse. To the same extent, my buddy from HS(running back at De La Salle in warren), is one of like 3-5 freshman to not get redshirted in the past like.. 8-10 years. Running a legit 4.32 and beating everyone at the Midwest Elite Combine at Indy last year.. he got some looks.. but not even D1 other than state.
Look to D2. With your stats, you could play.. .. 215.. 4.42 40? That seems like some damn good numbers for a RB.
Hit me up on PMs if you want some GVSU info. The coaches are *******s.. but I think you could fit in the program. Take that with a grain of salt(no offense to you.. simply that the coaches are dicks). Hell.. what about northwood, SVSU, hillsdale, wayne state, etc. There has to be a D2 that would look at you.
Wow.. yeah I didnt even look that in depth at your post.
sorry.. I didnt realize you couldnt play D2.

Thomas More- HS coach went there and is pushing for me to go there hard.. lol But its decently close to home and they just built a new football field. And I also know alot of people that live in the area
Wilmington-close to home
Heidelberg- I was originally going to go there out of HS, plus it looks like they have made a good turn around and are gonna be decent the next couple years
Otterbein- another HS coach went there and said he would talk to the coaches for me and my uncle went there and said he loved it.
Muskingum-nice campus and maybie a chance at early playing time..
I've applied to Thomas More, Heidelberg and Muskingum, but I'm going to have to wait til this semester is over to send in my transcripts
And I've visited Heidelberg so far and I'm going to visit Thomas more with my old coach 2 weekends from now.
