I still think making your own is best. It seems that even though they are mixes, whey seems to to be the principal protein source because it is cheap. I would be surprised to find a protein blend that had less then 50% whey. Don't you think?

They never tell you how much of each you get - I suspect the main ingredients in those would be the cheapest proteins i.e calcium caseinate and whey concentrate - as YG says its best to make your own - if you buy in bulk you'll save cash.

No mention of Ravager 6 Ripped?

Most of these have micellar casein as their first ingredient, and WPI instead WPC.

D&G, Ravager 6? I couldn't find nutrients info on it, but I don't think it's top as far as ingredients go.

I don't know the exact ingredients of Ravager 6 - all I know is its based around getting all 22 amino acids and if contains obscure stuff like gelatin protein - I am thinking of trying some to see what its like but it is very expensive £28 for 2lbs and I don't know if that includes delivery!

    Well, ingredients.

Most of those, if not all, use,

    - micellar casein instead of reg. casein
    - WPI instead of WPC
    - original and more expensive proteins such as colostrum, egg yolk isolate and others.
    - digesive enzymes, pro-biotics and others.

D&G, check out their website and ask them. I've checked it out yesterday, but haven't had time to go through all.

Do you have amounts of these ingredients? Often times nutrition companies put token amounts of expensive ingredients and claim it on the label. I am not trying to be an ass (this time). I was just wondering.

    Ravager 6

whey protein isolate, fractionated whey concentrate (alpha & beta lactoalbumin), soy isolate (modified to high L taurine yield), hydrolysed wheat protein

As I said its based around getting 22 aminos rather than as many protein sources as possible - looks promising, hope to give it a try when I'm slightly less skint most appropriate for post workout by the looks of it.

HSN is a good product line. It is by Bryan Haycock. I think optimums complete protein diet is a decent deal as well.

Yup, that's him. Also the creator of HST.

His protein products are Primer and Driver - to used pre and post-WO respectively as suggested by him.

We are not talking about "good deals", but about highest quality stuff.

Comp. Pro. Diet is calcium cas. and WPC as first ingredients.

That is correct. I have emailed both HDT and ISS on the composition of ProBlend-55 and ProM3 respectively. Neither would reveal the protein makeup. I later found out that ProBlend-55 is 75% whey.

    Anyone know about ProM3?

Pro M3 is nothing special, just some cheap-ass WPC, calcium cas. & egg white... Not worth the price.

For the same price, you can get one of those mentioned above - they have a much better protein profile.

These companies charge so much more for their "blends" than their straight whey powder. It's not like casein and egg protein are that expensive (sometimes cheaper than whey). What is the justification for the price?
