Question want to put on weight but cant need to build up my muscle

Hi Im in need of some good advice, im 22 and very small, ive tried different ways of putting on weight, but nothing seems to work, a friend told me about body building, and to just build muscle instead, Ive got no idea where to start, however I do have another friend who does this and said he would help me. Is this safe and is it a practical way. I want to do this quickly. I weigh 48kg, and im approx. 5'4. Please help. Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Absolutely, but there is no way around the fact that gaining weight, be it fat OR muscle, is going to require an adjustment in you caloric intake.
So start the lifting, take it slow, and FEED your body enough to repair itself. Otherwise it will be a frustrating experience.
But putting on lean mass is the BEST way to gain weight.
