8-12, in studies seems to show the highest mass gain along with shorter rest periods. But really it's dependent on the individual. Some folks will not respond well to higher reps, and when they lift in the low rep range they gain much more mass and vice versa. Also it depends on the muscle group, as with legs very high reps (20-40) can add some nice size.

this hits all rep ranges and hits your slow twitch as well as your fast twitch muscle fibers.If it doesnt kill you, it makes you stronger.
