    Upright Rows

Are upright rows worth doing? I have been using a barbell (tried standard and EZ-bar) but occasionally I get pain in my wrist. I realize I can switch to dumbbells, but I was wondering if there were other substitutions available. I already do iso exercises for biceps and lateral delts, so is it even worth replacing?

    Thanks for the help.

Here is a link to a thread asking the same question. You may find additional answers in yours, but this provides a little info. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=145683261

By the way, you also might have better luck with responses by posting it in the exercises forum.

if you are doing for traps , there are better exercises than upright rows , i recommend doing wide grip pulling up to chest level to hit rear and side delts if you are going to do it. think about pulling with your elbow , not hands , that trick also may help. Still you should not try to do exercises that give you discomfort. just replace it

I completely agree with this as well. I don't do them myself and definitely do not see them as a necessity. No reason to risk injury or additional pain for an exercise that isn't critical at all in the grand scheme of things.

I probably should have looked in there first (oops).

Never tried wide grip before but will give it a shot. Not too concerned about my traps, but this was one of the few exercises in my routine I was doing that I could feel them working, so I might just replace this with some shrugs.

    Thanks guys.

Use an EZ-bar and take a wide grip. This will reduce wrist pain. Also dont go too heavy cause they can snap some **** up.
