Question What exercise builds a great ass

Someone asked me this question today and i said the squat...now that i think of it, i never really feel a burn in my glutes while squatting, more quads.

I'm thinking i shoulda said deadlift? cuz that always has my ass burinin up.

No, you did good saying squats. Other best choices would have been lunges and GHRs.

For me it has to be lunges hands down. It hits my glutes so well that it seems like an isolation exercise, which is why I stopped doing them, I was trying to hit my quads, but squats work much better for that.

Try using a wider stance when you squat, and sit right back. My glutes are always sore after squatting so maybe your not doing them right.

true...i use a fairly narrow stance while squatting because i read somewhere that it stimulates the quads better...thats probably why i feel little burn on my glutes.

You don't want to feel squats in your ass, you want to feel them in your quads. That said, doing ATG squats will grow your ass whether you feel them there or not. I do lunges sometimes and they make my glutes sore; I do full squats every time and they never make my glutes sore but I gots a big 'ol squat butt.

Gotta go with lunges for me. The few time I did them, my ass was sore.

I think ATG is the way to go. I'm very flat footed and quickly lose balance when I squat like this though cause my knees pronate and it feels dangerous. So if you happen to have the same problem, deep leg presses after a few sets of squats seem to have the same effect, but less tension on the knees and more on my hips.

The reason you probably do not feel them in your ass is more than likely your form. If you drive yourself up from your heels more i guarantee you will feel it. A lot of people push up from their toes, which isnt such a good idea anyway.

Squats and some occasional Deads has really built me from having the traditional guy "Zero Gluets" to having an athletic ass of steel.

squatting below (or atleast to) parallel. When you are that down in the hole your hams and glutes really have to work hard to get you back into position where your quads can be at a biomechanical advantage (knees ~90 degrees and beyond). Focus on exploding your hips forward as you get out of the hole and you'll definitely feel it.
