same way you'd stetch your chest and bicep except start with it straight up and move it down while you rotate out..
pulling your arm across your chest and pulling it down behind your head

but i'd suggest icing it and being careful with it...if you injure your rotator cuff, your screwed...so rest it and start doing rotator cuff exercises

I've got a partially torn supraprinatus and all I can tell you from experience is ICE ICE ICE and ease up on your bench a bit until it goes away. Trust me - tearing it leads to all sorts of problems you don't want. If it seems to grow weaker and/or more painful get some release therapy or see your doc for a scan...but don't ignore it. Good luck, hope the soreness goes away soon!

I think this is sound advice. I have had shoulder surgery twice, the second time could have probably been avoided if I had layed off a little bit more. Big +1 on seeing a doc sooner rather than later.

Well your in the states so i don't know how the whole medical process works there but i'd just go see a specialist right away about anti inflamatory meds and getting an MRI i know it took like a year to get it all sorted out between the different tests and 2 different types of MRI, so yeah like everyone has said...ice it and cool it with stuff that involves your shoulder. but look into tendonitus, bursitus, and bone spurs cause if you spend all this time thinking its a tear and turns up just as just a small injury along with those symptoms it could be a lot of wasted time

What did you do to it, and have you seen a doctor? As we've learned from the Farzmak episode, it is not always wise to get medical advice from internet forums unless you know the source! And when you come to this forum you're gonna get a variety of opinions from people who really don't have the qualifications to pass out medical advice.

I found a great rehab/preventative exercise is to do this...grap a broom stick with a wide grip and hold it at you thighs and just bring it up over your head keeping your arms staright until it touches your lower back and then start from there keeping a wide grip on the stick the whole time...two weeks of doing 25-50 reps a day and i was able to start benching again after injuring my shoulder doing this..obviously the better you shoulder flexability the narrow the length of your grip will be...youll sometimes see baseball players doing this with their bat on the on deck circle.
