What IronMaster said, plus he might want to look at his technique when he heals. Is it barbell curls? Straight bar curls can be brutal to the wrists and elbows. Even dumbbell curls can be if you let your wrist breakdown while performing reps. He might want to look into EZ bar curls. (easier on the wrists and elbows) Sometimes our muscles outpace our tendons also, he might just need to heal....

Pain occurred after increasing to much weight doing DB curls. Pain right forearm but mostly at top of bicep. Took advice of forum and rested arms for about 4 weeks. Continued other workouts.
Started back with lighter weights right after New Years Day and could barely do 5 reps without pain. Continued using light weights and this a.m. was able to do 3 sets 15,15,20 without pain. Next week will increase weights and lower reps.
Botton line is that the Forum was right on about rest.
This comes from a older guy that works out for heath/strength and toning...not bulking..to old for that.
    Hope this helps,
    Jim B
