    recovery v. workout day

For optimal results, which day should my caloric intake be higher, recovery or workout day?

The calorie total shouldn't be too far off on these two days since your recovery days are when you really grow so to say. I wouldn't eat higher on recovery days though because you won't be expending any calories. I'd keep them relatively the same or maybe a few 100 less on off days.

I don't take an off day but maybe once every couple weeks. I am always doing something usually like alternating between upper and lower body on two days followed by a day of cardio (which, for me, I consider recovering) or full body followed the next day by cardio. Cardio always feels like a day off for me even though I do 6 miles.

If you're doing cardio then, I would definitely keep the calories pretty much the same.
