Are there any actual additional benefits to body weight exercises besides the convenience of being able to do them pretty much anywhere, anytime?
I'm wondering because I usually throw a few into my workout routine on top of weight lifting. Should I just scrap the body weight exercises (besides abdominal exercises) and focusing on heavy lifting?

There are some bodyweight exercises that are pretty boss actually. Pull-ups seem to hit my lats better than anything else, other than *possibly* bent barbell row. And dips are pretty freaking effective too. Eventually you can add weight to these, but for many people, even doing these bodyweight will give you a good workout.
