Deadlift vs. Squat vs. Clean and Press: Which wins and why?

As the title says. Don't deviate from the three unless you have a good explanation. (i.e. don't say bench press unless you have good rationale as to why its king of all exercises.)

So, if you were to pick the king of exercises...which one and why exactly?

Well I don't do clean and press, but if I could only do one of the three, I would pick that one. I don't do it because I do a slew of other exercises that work the same muscles.

As far as the "king" of all exercises goes, its tough to pick between deads and squats, but I think i'd have to go with squats just because, squats can make me sore all over the place, from legs, to abs, to back, etc... and man does it make my lungs burn.

Clean and press is basicly a full body excercise so I'd go with that one. Deadlifts are great to as they nearly work your whole bdoy heavily to. Squats is an amazing excercise to but doesn't work a lot more then your legs and lower back.

Clean and press, in terms of overall muscle recruitment and because it requires you to develop coordination and balance as well as building strength. Deads would be second in my book, and then front squats.

Had to go with squats on this...IMO, squats are pretty much tied with C and P, but I chose squats because they are pretty much essential for any kind of lifter...CandP's are a great full body exercise but I dont feel they are 100% essential to BBing.

Gotta go with C&P because of its full-body effects. Of the remaining two, I'd give a slight edge to deadlifts.

cRod make sure you have your form down pat, because to be able to lift the really heavy weights, you have to have good form, or its just like your pulling it with your arms, when in actuality you should be using your entire posterior chain and body. Learned the technique in football and took some time to master it.
Chest up, head up, about shoulder width. Pull bar while exploding legs up ( and i mean exploding your legs up like hell. You should aim for your hands to be above your shoulders, and then drop your hips and have the bar in a semi-front squat position, with of course atleast shoulder width grip. Takes some time to get used to, so start low.

I really cant say which is the best, because I love em all!

Neither, the snatch is the king of exercises in my opinion. Nothing better for total body strength and power. It requires the lifter to use his entire body to complete the lift. It requires more power than the other lifts due to the distance the bar travels. A 200kg snatch generates more power than a 400kg deadlift.

Snatches are awesome, but in clean and presses the bar travels the same distance as in a snatch, assuming you start from the floor. And you can use more weight on the C&Ps because there is a pause between the 2 parts, which allows you to "reset". Like I said earlier, though, either exercise can be king (maybe "co-kings") because they develop not only strength and mass, but coordination and balance too.

Yes but in the snatch the bar travels further during the pull which requires the lifter to generate more power to complete the lift. If you power snatch the bar is being lifted from the floor to overhead on one movement which is 6-7 feet or more, that requires tremendous total body power.

I do all three of those. The one that taxes the most muscle synergies the hardest is IMO the deadlift. There isnt much of a comparison between doing your max 5x5 of squat, deads, and clean and press.

The deadlifts take the most toll and longest to recover from.
