    Question Squat foot placement?

Hi, here is my situation. When i do squats i feel it in my inner thigh. Not on the top of the leg. I believe it to be my foot placement. I have tried to keep feet straight and do a few light squats, but it feels unnatural.
When i squat my feet are pointed out abit.
any suggestions would be very helpful.
    thanks, Jehote

Im the same way, I have a really tough time out of the standard power squat position, I find balance especially tough when going narrow. Therefore I tend to just go with what im strong at, which is a wide stance with toe pointed slightly outward. My advice is to just go with what you feel comfortable with, but to counter my wide stance I try to do both leg press/hack squats @ a pretty narrow stance so that my legs/quads are being isolated in all areas. hope that helps a bit, good luck.
    Currently maxing @:
    Weight 190lbs
    Deadlift 535lbs (04/07/06)
    squat 515lbs (03/27/06)
    bench 320lbs

    Goals for 06:
    weight 195-200
    Deadlift 600lbs
    Squat 550lbs
    Bench 350lbs

pointed your toes out is normal, unless squating really narrow.

Also the soreness in the inner theighs is common, I wouldnt blame your stance its just a muscle group that you have previously neglected

Yes, if you are squatting wider you want your toes pointing out some. This way your knees track over your toes and don't collapse inward.

Actually, you should feel it in your posterior chain more if you are doing a powerlifting squat. ie. inner thigh hamstrings, butt, lower back.

Therefore, when I read this it sounds like you are doing them correctly. A bodybuilders squat should hit the top of your leg more. You might want to post your question on the bodybuilding forum.

As far as the feet straight thing that takes practice. Louie Simmons has always said a powerlifting stance is wide with the feet straight in front. However, once again, this is a powerlifting squat and takes practice. Most powerlifters I know attempt to get them as straight as feels comfortable and thats all.
    Current lifts

Bench 396 (In Comp) Bench 425 ( in gym) (both single ply)
Squat 495 (in Gym Raw to parallel box) 535 (Single Ply)
    Deadlift 573(In Comp)

    Red face

thanks to all who answered. No i dont want to post this in the BB section as i am not really wanting to do BB. I think i need to chalk this up to overall ignorance on my part as to where i should be feeling it. i just assumed being new that a squat motion would work the top of the thigh. but, after reading the posts i guess its all systems go!
    thanks, J
p/s i may post more noob questions if i cant find the answer in the search, thanks for not flaming!
