How much does shoulder hurt when you have torn Rotator cuff

Does your shoulder hurt all the time, even when you're not working out? Does it hurt when you do certain movements, even with no weights?

My doctor said my rotator cuff is "sore," but most likely not torn. How do you know when it's actually torn and not sore?

Wow. The same way you know your ACL is torn, or your nose is broken, or your hand is sliced open...pain. If your rotator cuff was completely torn, you would have extremely limited mobility of your shoulder, if any.
    On the individual:

His responses grow intelligent, or gain meaning, simply because he lives and acts in a medium of accepted meanings and values. Through social intercourse, through sharing in the activities embodying beliefs, he gradually acquires a mind of his own. The conception of mind as a purely isolated possession of the self is at the very antipodes of the truth.

Even if it's a little torn, you'll get significantly less range of motion?

if its sore you will most likely get a less range of motion

if you can extewnd your arms out to your sides and make circles with them for at least 10 secs then its not tore

(i'm an EMT, i kinda know about this stuff. but some people should know more)

i would also assume that if you tore it you would notice a bit of swelling as well
but like everybody else said if you tore it theres no way you'd be able to raise your arm above your head without crying

Back my freshman year i had a minor tear and the rest was raw.... I rember doin PT for it and can give you a run down of it.

If you have a wood floor you can do it. Take to cloths one on each hand and do oppostie arm circles for 30 seconds. I went throguh that 4 times so two each. Then a small 5 lb resistant band and i strecthed it out.

Hopefully this helps but dont lift it will only get worse.

When you had the minor tear, did you just do stretches and healed back on its own? How long did it take to heal?

With doing those two and not using it to lift anytihng more then like 4 or 5 lbs. I think it took 1.5 weeks or so before i could stretch it fully and another week or two before i could lift or use it for sports again.

Well I found the "Complete RC thread":http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=529968

So, for those of you who are letting your RCs recover from soreness/being strained, are you doing these stretches to help strengthen the RC, or are you doing completely nothing?

My RC is most likely sore. I asked my doctor if I should do any RC strengthening exercises, but he said doing those is like "running on a sprained ankle." Any thoughts about that?
