    abs everyday?

My workout friends told me that I can and should work my abs/obliques everyday to get my six pack out more... So yesterday, I decided to start working them everyday. When I woke up today, they were sore, but I decided to go ahead and do them again today because of what they said.

Anyways, when I went to the gym and started to do some ab exercises, leg raises, ab crunch machine, etc, my abs hurt really badly and I couldn't do as much weight and reps on my exercises.

Does my body just need to get used to it? Or should I do them maybe every other day? Any suggestions?

    Thanks

I personally work them everyday. But the catch is, if they hurt on a day, don't work them. Your first few weeks might be every other day, but eventually you'll be able to reach an everyday capability, if not, just do what works.

your friends a dum dum, six packs are made in the kitchen yours abs are always there they are just covered by some fat. Depending on your goals (mass gain or cutting) you should train them like you would any other muscle, 6-10 reps, you'd be suprised at the six pack you can get from proper diet and a workout program that includes squats and deadlifts. Try training your abs no more than 3 days a week to insure they have time to rest.

Your abs are just like every other body part. It is a myth that you need to work them more often. Training them more than twice a week will lead to overtraining. If you are doing your abb workout properly and efficiently, then twice a week at the most is all you need. In order to get your abs to show, do more cadeo.

Not necessarily true. Gymnasts train abs everyday and don't overtrain and have some of the strongest cores in the world. But for BBing, yeah, you are right.

    -----------------

Nutrition is the most important factor. Doing cardio for 30+ minutes or high intensity interval training (HIIT) will also help to burn off extra fat. Training is not needed as everyone naturally has a 6-pack, but it can definitely help build the muscle to be bigger so you probably want to do exercises as well. A few good ones are: hollow rocks, weighted situps, hanging leg raises, jackknives

    I already answered your question.

As long as the volume and intensity is low to medium, you can train very frequently. Sometimes very fit individuals can train at high intensity very frequently. A decent degree of frequency is required to build high strength.

Working your abs every day is probably the worst thing you can do for them, next to not working them at all.

Good for him. Just think about how he'd look if he didn't overtrain. Either that, or he's not hitting them hard enough so he has to train them more often. I would rather hit them hard twice a week, rather than do a piss poor workout and have to train more often. The more intense your workouts get, generally the longer the recovery period needs to be.

Maybe it is you that's the dum dum. Six packs are NOT made in the kitchen, they're made in the gym like every other muscle. IMPOSSIBLE to overtrain your abs, go back to the gym and start lifting before you tell people to train less.

Don't listen to this guy. Train your abs every single day. Depending on your recovery have light and heavy days.

My obliques showed up on the sides when I did hanging leg raises with a twist motion on each side. You may be able to get it only in the kitchen I guess but that is if you have good genetics. And if you have four pack genetics like I do, you probably have to work them more

You obviously know NOTHING about getting a six pack. Your abs should be trained every single day, low intensity HIGH VOLUME. This is how you get abs.

I usually work my out every day as well. But if their sore dont work em out. Give it time to repair, and if you want the abs visible if they are not already or want them nicer, I suggest cutting down to 10% or below BF

Only train abs like 2-4 times a week at most i would say. If you wanna see your abs, work more on losing fat on your stomach, trust me, you will see more results that way.

you don't work other bodyparts every day right? Why should you work abs everyday?
You’ve put blood sweat and tears into this, after all these years, every set and rep that you pushed your hardest. Don’t give up now.

If you work abs everyday you'll burn fat around them. They won't get big, they'll get more defined. Simple

Totally depends on the intensity of your ab training.

Everyone has a sixpack. It's just the fat that covers it, but ofcourse training abs will help devolpe them like etc get the side abs/abdominal etc. Dudes like Greg Plitt (one of the greatest abs on the earth) trains them everyday but I don't really see the point, i train them 1-2 a week
