It's not good. It's like cracking your knuckles too often and as you grow older you'll get arthritis. You should only get back massages from a professional.

yeah,,, my chiropractor (sp?) told me that it's the sound of your ligaments being pinched or something of the sort.. kind of how you're not suppose to roll your neck around to stretch, just move it side/side front/back, etc...

I agree with the knuckles, but i don't see how cracking your back can be good for you, i do it sometimes but only if i can feel its really out of whack, most times it feels better, but i would never do it just to do it.

Your Chiropractor tells you not to do it because....then what would they be left to charge you for?

What if you get scliorosis? (Spelling lol)

Okay, so you want to weaken your back too.

That's for the average person who's never touched a weight. As long as you're exercising, you'll be fine. I love getting my back cracked and at 40 I'm still deadlifting 450+, so I'm not too worried. Also note the word 'constant'. No one constantly cracks their back.

Yes, people constantly crack their back. People at my school do it all the time. Every 30 minutes or so they crack it throughout the day.

Cracking your knuckles is supposedly actually lil nitrogen bubbles in the joint popping LOL....However, my physical therapist who is an avid Highland Games competitor (relevant because he lifts and trains heavy) said that too frequent chiropractor adjustments can lessen the stability of the spine by "stretching" the ligaments that hold the vertebrae together....

IT is not bad to crack your back.
I have 2 cracked lumbar vertebrae and cracking it/stretches was actually recommended by the doctor. He is a very well known doctor in New York so i know hes not full of it.
