when doing seated db military presses, for example, is it important to have the lower back presses against the bench so there is no space in between? a trainer told me this once and i rarely do it
?
I think that it is so you can't arch your back. Sometimes when people are doing overhead presses they have a tendency to arch their back. As long as you aren't excessively arching your back, it isn't essential to have your back against the bench. A belt could be used to keep your lower back straight.
