well what do you guys think?
do you think someone who isnt gifted athletically could compete successfully in say the UFC by just training for a large portion of their lives?
im asking this because in most other sports, no matter how hard lots of people work, they will never reach the top level because only the best athlete AND the most skilled people get there. personally i think MMA is becoming more and more like that, and will continue to do so as the sport expands. But say you got some guy with normal genetics and trains hard for extended periods, you reckon he will ever get above the smaller shows?

MMA is a completely different sport though, you can succeed through many different ways. Each different MA lends itself to a different skillset. Also each bodytype can utilise different strategies and technique. Not to mention there are weight classes. Obviously not everyone could be an MMA fighter but its probably the closest you can get.
I would say yes an average guy could. Now if we are talking bottom of the barrel for athleticism and coordination probably not but average definately.

I see that you're from South Africa, so English may not be you're first language.
Anyway... the best athletes in the world end up playing soccer and basketball, or training for the olympics, but they're not in MMA, with several obvious exceptions. Sorry, sad but true. Kenflo is certainly an athletic guy, LMAO... anybody who played high school football (50 million Americans) can lay claim to that. But, is he one one of the best as far as athletics go? Nah.

He replied, "I am responsible for the massacre of millions" Satan said, "well done, sit to the right of my throne." In 1953, Joseph Stalin died and went to Hell. Satan asked, "why are you in Hell?" He replied "I killed millions to stay in power" Satan said "good, sit to my left" 2010, Ronnie James Dio died and went to Hell, Satan asked, "why are you in Hell?" Dio replied, "Bitch, get the fuk off my throne!"

ok so im taking it you have played high school football and consider yourself to be better athletically than kenflo? like i said before brah, thats easy to say when you are sitting in front of a computer, but do you actually compete in a PROFESSIONAL sport like kenflo? if not, pls dont place yourself in the same category as kenflo.
tip: being athletic isnt bout how much u benchpress brah.
Edit: also i do happen to speak more than just english, like most educated people these days do.

You guys do realize there are intangibles in fighting that can't be learned, and being naturally athletic won't trump them, right?
