Well, I suppose it is time to slice open some new tennis balls for my walker and get back to some kind of working out...

well, that makes two of us! lol... this is the only one now. i am dropping the other one. it said shoulder rehab, and i have way worse injuries than that old one now, so i felt i should move on and just cover them all by calling in geriatric! and since bicep babe refuses to keep up with her bb.com and myspace, we will just share this one here. maybe i will change my avatar to one with both of us. me with her in a choke hold of some kind.

yep, i turn 40 next month, but not dead yet! if sly can make another rocky and rambo movie, and randy can win the heavy weight title again... the least i can do is work out a few days a week... i hope... and i could do le tyson did and only offer to fight girls (except debi pucell, she would kick my ass)...
bicep babe just won't keep up with her bb.com and myspace, so i will let her share my thread here, and just keep busting her chops about checking her myspace once in a while...

my whole body! i feel very out of shape... my back seems to have healed itself (i hope). we'll see when i really get back to some real weights and mma. i have done some bag work and light deadlifts, and it seems to be ok. but i did tear something loose in my elbow that i will probably get looked at eventually, but i plan to ignore it and pretend it is ok for now. i have 2 workouts done so far, and my 3rd planned for saturday. and will try to get them posted.

1/25/08 - friday night - 1st day back
we just did some light weights to warm up, a set for every muscle group over about 15-20 min. then tried to hit the double end bag, but the bladder popped again, so we traded 1-2 min sets on the heavy bag and BOB for about an hour or so... till i ran out of beer and creatine. over did it a little, but not oo bad.

1/28/08 - monday night
second workout back...
did same full body light warm up, but then added 3 sets of light deadlifts to test out my back. only 135lbs for sets of 12-15 reps.
then we traded sets/rests of 1-3 min on th heavy bag and BOB for about an hour again. something has to be done though, the bags and weights are in an unfinished part of the basement and the concrete is kicking up so much dust it was hard to breath. going to have to paint the floor & lay down outdoor grade carpet in there...
then one set of light DB curls to failure, lost count, but it burned pretty bad. and one set of DB forearm rolls in and out to failure.
training aids: coors light, creatine and ECA
note: although it is pretty damn funny to line up the empties on the floor and punch them flat on video, mma gloves do NOT cover the knuckles on your fingers, which means that the cans and concrete WILL take the skin off... but you don't notice till you get to the last one. not good... better idea: turn cans sharp side down and do it on plywood next time.

2/2/08 - saturday afternoon
missed the planned workout friday night. and bicep babe blew off this one too, but i did a little b4 everyone came over for the ufc fights. did not warm up properly, big mistake when u r old! thought i had solved the problem with the double end bag always popping... i went to target and put a soccer ball inside in place or the bladder. it was ok, but i had to over inflate the ball rock hard to fit tight, so now between that and the added weight it is awkward and feels a little like a hand beaker. hit it for a while, but need to either properly wrap hands and wrists or maybe try it with a volley ball? the weiht also made it move way to slow, and the idea is speed. it needs to move around fast and change angles...
no real weights today. just about 30 min on the bag and 15 min BOB. no training partner... the dust is still a problem.

1/4/08 - monday
missed the monday workout, slippin already... too much work, no sleep or food or workout.
hope to either do it tonight (thurs), or wait till friday to get back on track.
did get some samples and measurements for the floor paint and carpet though. would be nice to have the real floor & wall pads or a traing cage, but would need to do a major job of re-arranging things... and spend some bucks...

reality check
just checked weight and fat percent... not good at all. weight way down, fat way up... i have dropped from 247 at about 15% to just under 220lbs at 19/20% fat.
i have a long road back at this rate... my goal was 250lbs at 10% or less fat, and i was almost there... damn it...

well, i did a few and then work and all got in th way "again" and i worked myself sick... so they fizzled out... but it is my birthday tomorrow and i am hoping for a new heavy bag, that might help at least get me doing something! and my friends should have things settled and have our new MMA school open and set up soon too, so that will get u both back in there. if i can just manage to move work around and stay healthy, i could get 2 days of weights, 2 days of MMA & grappling, and 2 days on the bags... that would be plenty to get me back in shape withing about 12 weeks or so. or at least heading in the right direction. wish me luck! i have just not been able to keep a workout program going...
having people over for UFC 82 tonight. are you watching it?

still down sick
but did a light workout and hit the hot tub abd sauna. i had one of those quick flu deals that i thought was over, so i kept my appt to gve blood and had a bad rebound and ended up with pneumonia, bronchitis, flu, sinus infection and who knows what else. the doc tried some new antibiotics on me instead or the ones i like because he said they covered more of what i had, but i think they were crap... cause i am still sick...
tried hitting the bags a little, but that doesn't work very wel, just getts you hacking and cough up chunks...
did a light full body push/pull workout today, and i think it helped a little. might be better if i start back light while i am sick to keep me from over doing it as usual... did all reps slow, supersets, with a hold at the contraction.
low back hypers 33
sides 15 each
ab machine 60 x 100 lbs
leg lifts 50
twists with 10lb ball 100
stretch out...
rotators in 75lbs x 21 machine
rotators out 15lbs x 21 db
leg adductions 100lbs x 21
leg abductions 100lbs x 21
pec deck 100lbs x 21
lat pulls to front 100lbs x 21
leg ext 100lbs x 21
leg curls 50lbs x 21 each
seated calves 100lbs x 21
shrugs 135lbs x 21
leg press "something really light" x 21
leg press calves "light" x 21
curl machine singles 30lbs x 21 each
tricep rope 75lbs x 7, 150lbs x 7, 200lbs x 7 no rests
db laterals 15lbs x 21 each
forearm rolls 45lbs x 21 each
alternate hot tub and sauna for an hour or so... threw up in a trash can, but i think i feel better, so i guess i'll try it again saturday.

you are probably right, but i never seem to get any rest anyway with work and all... so i figured i would try "very" light workouts every other day to see if i get worse or better. i am just so sick of being out of shape and rundown... my weight is down and fat % up, that is a sad combo! i am going to make sure to take a little glutamine to try to boost my immune system a little too.
