Well I liked Super Pump, in terms of the boost it provides. My only complaint was that it didn't seem to want to mix up, had to really beat on it to get the powder mixed in.
Other products like this that you might like are:
Labrada Super Charge - flavors taste great, good results, not too extreme in terms of stimulation, nice solid boost of energy
VPX NO Shotgun - didnt taste so hot but wow, great workouts
ISatori - H+ Blocker, not as focused on muscle pumps and nitric oxide effects as these first 3; this one purports to buffer lactic acid and increase the muscle's work capacity that way. Taste is so-so, results.....one of the best preworkout products Ive ever used, easily. Crazy energy and stamina.
CytoSport Fast Twitch - Tastes good, good results. I've recommended it to men and women in different types of training circumstances, cant think of anyone who didnt like.
Muscle Tech Nano Vapor - So so tastes, great results. My gf's favorite. I just wish MT didnt insist on putting FD&C colors in their products as they always seem to do; Come on guys, we're not kids, we know there's no actual blue raspberries in there....it doesn't have to really 'be' blue.
BSN NO Xplode - very popular product, many threads about it. I liked it the first time I used it in 06. By the time I tried it again a few months later, it didnt work nearly as well for me. Not really sure why that is. Formula change? maybe; other users and customers have reported the same thing, but it's still very popular and many people swear by it.
I would add that with these kinds of products you can and should experiment with the dose and the timing of the dose. One scoop might not be enough....or might be too much. It all depends on your sensitivity to the ingredients and the formula. 20 mins before workout might be ideal, maybe 40, maybe an hour, you've got to play with them a little bit to find the sweet spot in terms of dose and timing.
But that's also one of the great thing about preworkout powders, you can adjust the dose depending on your needs that day, sometimes you need more, sometimes less. Also, as liquids, they go into your system VERY fast, and get metabolized quickly too. So they're a Godsend when you work all day and can only train at night. Who is bursting with energy at 7 pm when you've been working all day? Not me. But I've come to depend on these to help get me going and get me thru it.
Because they're liquids and metabolize quickly, they go to work fast, and their energizing effects are consolidated into a two hour (or so) window, perfect for working out. Then the effect fades so you can eat, get to sleep or otherwise get on with your non-stimulated life afterwards.
Whereas with capsule and tablet products that you might otherwise use for a preworkout energy boost, it's hard to know exactly when they're going to kick in. And they tend to take a much longer time to release and be metabolized, so their energizing effects are spread out over a few hours. Rather than get a big boost for an hour or two, you get a so-so bump spread out over several hours, which isnt as useful IMO. The other thing with caps and tabs is that as you experiment with the dose and build a tolerance to the effects, you can get to a place where, say, 2 arent enough but 3 is too stimulating. The powders give you much more flexibility.
