pic of noob
I've been on here a little bit mostly lurking so I thought I'd post a pic. I know the jeans are a little low, sorry. I did this pic at the request of a girl for another site.
Anyways, I've been lifting for the past 8 or 9 years and I get more and more serious every year. I workout entirely at home too. Bodybuilding is really my passion. It's nice to have a site like this so hello to everyone.

Thanks guys. I'm 5'8" 160Ibs. right now. I'm a little dude.
This past summer I was eating 4500 calories plus for almost 3 months and I made it up to 168Ibs. My metabolism is too fast. I don't know when I'm going to bulk again but I'll probably have to eat in excess of 5000 calories to get above 170 Ibs. Seems kind of strange. I don't do any cardio at all neither. When I do, I lose muscle. So you take the good with the bad of being a hardgainer.

look good man! I was stuck at 185# for a while and started being very regular with a protein shake 3-4 times a day ( in between meals). I just broke 200#. It might help.
Offcourse I am no where as lean as you.

Thanks a lot man.
Oh my home gym ha ha. I'm not rich but over the years I just keep adding to it.
1. Hoist Hack Squat/Leg Press
2. Body Solid Smith Machine with Hoist incline/decline bench
3. Body Solid Leg Curl/Leg Extension
4. Piece of crap High Low Pulley bench with preacher curl attachment
5. Body Solid Dip Station/Knee Raise
6. Piece of junk treadmill that barely gets used.
7 Dumbell pairs 25-65 Ibs.
I'd add more stuff but I'm running out of room. I can't even use my pool table anymore.

Thanks
You know I am really serious about not missing meals whether I'm bulking or cutting or whatever. I start to shake and get agitated once it's been 3 hours since I've eaten. (OK I don't really shake haha) I work 12 hour days for half the week and I'll eat 4 times at work, 3 of those are meal replacement shakes with a handful of peanuts usually. I can only sit down and eat once and that will either be chicken or tuna with some more peanuts. When I was trying to gain, I'd throw a half cup of oats into my shakes and eat bananas and such.
Days off of work, I'll sometime eat 3 or 4 chicken breasts with a couple of protein shakes. I just think I had a pretty fast metabolism before I ever started to lift weights and over years and years with lifting it's gotten to the point where I need to totally load up on food to gain significant weight. I count my calories/carbs/protein I just couldn't physically eat anymore.
Thanks for the advice though, I'm going to bulk again probably after this summer though. So I'm on basically on a 1 year cut. lol

Great abs. I used to get the shakes too. Low glycogen, try whole grain bread, a baked sweet potato, or some wheat pasta with 2 of your morning meals. You won't get
fat, they're complex carbs.

I don't really start shaking, I do get aggitated though, like if somebody's talking to me or I'm trying to finish some job and it's been 3 hours. I'll drop whatever I'm doing and grab my shaker cup and go outside. (can't drink protein shakes out on the floor at work) People at work think I'm crazy, it'll be snowing outside or whatever and I'll be out there shaking up the stuff in a t shirt, eating a banana or whatever. You got to do what you got to do.
I do need more variety in my diet though, I think it'd be a good thing so thanks for the suggestions. I eat old fashioned oats like they're going out of style. They're probably my main source of carbs. I love broccoli and cauliflower too. I've never learned how to cook pasta, I know that seems stupid but it's just something I've never tried to do. Is there a lot of whole wheat pasta in normal grocery stores? Any specific brands you like? I'm always open to trying new things.

Don't know really, I've never had it tested. I did just order a bodyfat caliper though so I'm going to try and see what's going on with that. I know I should just go to the gym and get it tested but I don't belong to any gyms.
I'd be stoked if it was that low, I don't think I'm there yet. Even at this stage I'm still taking in 2600 calories plus most days. I don't think I could survive below 2000 calories. I do a 3 day low carb one day high carb diet. It's simple and it works for me. It's weird that I am eating a little more than half what I was when I was bulking yet only weigh 8 or 9 pounds less.

Well, I think the biggest thing is hooking my feet under the leg pad on a decline bench and taking a 25Ib. plate and a 10Ib. plate (total 35 Ibs.) and crunching. A lot of people say this is bad for your back but i think as long as you're strong enough and have been training long enough it's fine. I don't go all the way down on the decline or that would really wretch the back. I can get about 30 reps like that and I go until I just can't do anymore and then just hold it as long as I can. I'll do a couple sets like that.
Then I'll go and do hanging knee/leg raises. I hold a 10Ib. medicine ball in between the legs and try and concentrate on letting the abs do the work of raising the legs and not the hip flexors. When i get too tired, I drop the ball and do some more raises until I'm burnt out. 2 or 3 sets of that. I'll do a couple of other things sometimes like reverse situps on the decline bench but I think the main reason I got good results is from those 2 exercises alone.
To me, it's flat out ridiculous when I read a magazine and see someone recommending 10 different exercises for abs and all of them are crucial. Keep it simple just super intense. I only work abs once and sometimes twice a week. I think it's important to work them hard when you're bulking, that is when you can make them grow best. People don't want to do that because when they're bulking you can't see them as well.
Of course getting rid of the fat now that is the hard part.

um.... bring out the lower abs some more? You're a freakin' anatomy chart as it is, man! And based on the pic, I'm scared to think what you might be bringing out next.

I'm on a very slow cut ha ha. I mean when you get here your body is fighting you pretty bad. I'm critical of myself though, I think there's always room for improvement.

Thanks dude. I was looking at your link, you've made a hell of a transformation. It's amazing how much a person can change in a short amount of time. Good job. Of course the further along you get the harder it is to make further progress. That's when the going really gets tough.

Hey thanks man!
I had most of my size gains in the first 6 months, now it is all just cooling down, going forward nonetheless, but cooling down.
I still love training my ass of 6 times a week, it has become such a habit, I know all the regular guys there and we make sure no one misses a workout. Great motivation .
