Was going to go to the gym, still very sore though

Well, it's been 6 days since my last workout, only my second one really, as I'm quite new and only ever trained on and off.

Anyway, Last tuesday I workedout as well as wednesday when I started a new programme that was better. After the second workout about two days after I could hardly lift my arms about my head, my chest was very very tight and it hurt mostly around my armpit/pec area.

Well today about to go to the gym, I was just lifting my arms about my head and also stretching my chest but it is still very sore when I lift my arms up and tense, as if lifting a weight. What do you thinkI should do?

It is tight, not painful really. Do oyu think I should ignore it and battle through it, as it may just be beginners stiffness?

Yes, if it has been 6 days then get back to the gym. It will likely help with the soreness. It will not hurt your gains. Soreness is not a good benchmark for recovery. The more often you train, the less sore you will be.

don't train if your still sore. to put it simply if your still sore your muscles haven't fully recovered from your last workout. also if it's taking that long to recover you may be lacking in your diet so try increasing your protein intake. i also find that post workout stretching reduces soreness and stiffness. good luck

Well I did go in the end, decided it was just a little muscle stiffness. Once into the gym during my stretching started to feel a bit better, loosened up and had a pretty decent workout in the end.

    Thanks for the advice guys.
