Those who own a Les paul
I am thinking about purchasing one. I am unsure though about the pick ups. I have a choice of Burstbuckers, or the pickups that are typical of a SG I beleive the P 90's. I have yet to play either due to the non availablity of a Gibson store near me. I was going to purchase from Musicians friend as I always do.But I really don't want to have to send it back if it sounds like sh it. I play through a Marshall JVM stack with a Digitech RP 750.
Any thoughts for those who have used these guitars before?

I dont own one but I have played quite a few. The burstbuckers sound pretty damn good. You can always swap them out down the road if you like

You must never EVER buy a guitar without testing it first.
Its the best thing you can do. Go to the store, and let your ears choose.
Cheers!

I have been playing for 42 years now and have always played the instrument prior to purchase. But this time it may not be happening.

Les Paul is great guitar. try to play the model you want through the amp that you have... very important.
I helped my buddy setup his 5150 and Jackson back in the day. This step is key when selecting a new axe.

OP if you have the money put some TV jones' in the neck and the burstbuckers in the bridge, heard one like that once through a 59 bassman amp and it sounded orgasmic
