What to do after your workout - stay-at-home-moms

Of all the things this is something I haven't figured out, yet. However stupid it is.

I feel odd after a workout - I'm a bit stiff and tired but a little wired and all I want to do is sit and bum out for a bit.
But I feel that I shouldn't do this.

What to do - slow-walk until this stiff/tired/wired feeling wears off.
Just get to my usual house-chore junk with no break?

If I'm REALLY worn out I usually sit after a 5 min cool down walk. Then I go about doing my usual household chores. I also stretch after my cool down. That has helped a lot with the stiffness.

Stretching after - thanks - maybe that'll help.

A protein blend before my workout - on heavy days.

I've read that if you want to eat after a workout you should wait 30 minutes - is that accurate?

    Hi Julie,

Wow, I actually feel the complete opposite after my morning workout. I feel energized and ready to go. I didnt read the other posts, but my suggestion concerning being stiff, is make sure you warm up and cool down, and do sufficient stretching. That should help your muscles from feeling stiff.

As for being tired..are you over doing it at the gym maybe?

Also, make sure you eat something as soon as possible after working out that has carbs & protein. Personally I have a shake post workout, with half a frozen banana, skim milk, whey protein & glutamine (to help with recovery) & a bit of ice. Following which, I eat something more substantial about an hour or so later.
You've got to get up every morning with determination, if you're going to go to bed with satisfaction

Maybe it's just temporary - I'm just in week 2 of a new routine and I've never really tried to workout early in the morning (6:30 or so is when I start) ... Perhaps I just need to do extra stretches (cool down) after my workout like's been mentioned and give myself more time to adjust before I worry about it.

Energy - nope! None of that around here. I have 4 kids and only recenlty have I been able to start getting 7 hrs of sleep or so. I'm hoping that my energy will return if I stick with a new diet/routine long enough to get use to it.
(This is what usually brings me to stop my new routine/diets...being tired all the time)

Maybe I need to start taking a shower right after? I usually take my shower during the kid's afternoon naptime - because I usually get gross during my daily cleaning, anyway...Maybe I should just start taking 2 instead of 1.
