Yeah, it happens when your body is still sleeping but your brain isn't.
First time I've experienced sleep paralysis was when I stayed up late playing a game, my body was physically tired so I went to sleep. So I lie down on my bed and just close my eyes, but for some reason I could picture my window curtains somehow just "burst" open. That's when the weird stuff started happening.
My bed started to tremble and I could hear women being raped by demons. I also heard horses galloping and screaming. For a second there I thought I was in Hell, I couldn't move my body or anything. Then I felt as if someone was trying to carry my legs towards the window (since I sleep near by one), my whole body started to move itself.
I'd say that continued on for another 3 minutes. It was finally over when the same window "closed". I was sweating and just hot after that happened.
Sorta creepy, but I've had more experiences with it. Like my soul was trying to push away from my body.

****. Maybe it was a demon lol. I've had one sorta like that ... I was in bed and my covers were levitating and there was icy air rushing around in my room, and I could feel the presence of something. Very scary!!!

i don't kno if it was that sleep paralysis thing but sometimes i wake up and CAN'T move a specific part of my body, the fingers, a foot, or a full hand, i think it's because i move a lot while in bed and sometimes sleep literally on my hand or arm, preventing the blood to flow, when i wake up i cant feel it or move it, its ****ing scary

some of my smytoms are quite silly but here goes...The one last night I had, well actually about 9:00am I felt awake but I wasnt, I couldnt open my eyes (infact I can never open them when this occurs) so I tryed climbing out of bed, it felt so real cause I coul;d feel the things in my room like my unit barbell etc but I woke up in my bed. Other cases include me touching my face, arm, I had a bit of a beard once and I remember running my hand on it only to wake up again. I feel like something grabs me and pushes down on me so I try to grab it back, nothing happens. Once I even felt a hand grab my hand, also felt breathing on me, and voices telling me to take care, this sometimes freaks me out.

I've had sleep paralysis for about ten years now and only recently discovered I wasn't the only one in the world who this happened to and that it actually had a name. I freaked out when I started reading other people's stories and describing very similar experiences!
I still have episodes about every three months.

Yeah, the thing that makes it so scary is because it feels real.
It's like you want to open your eyes and end it, but you somehow can't.
One other time I had a dream that I had sleep paralysis. It was weird because I was imagining myself sleeping and all of a sudden I start to spasm. I would start punching my bed with all those special effects (ala Matrix style). Hmm... Feels like as if someone was trying to control me.
Other than that, I think the best one I had was when my soul was pushing itself away from my body. Picture yourself floating and you could see your body just lying there lifeless. The weird thing was that the body was acting like a barrier preventing my soul from drifting far away.

it just happened to me once a few years ago, i opened my eyes and couldn-t move and i felt like there was someone in the room right behind me but i couldn't turn around. I tried to scream so someone on the house would hear me but no sound came out of my mouth. I also felt like if i was floating and had a really weird feeling all overmy body, i thought some ghost or something was trying to posses me lol.
It lasted for about a minute it was pretty scary.

a minute, your unlucky man, mines last probably about 10-15 seconds but they seem like a lifetime! Yeah, I hate it when you scream, I scream in the dream but its slow and no one listens. Some other reason, when I dream about being in my house it is never a good dream theres always something 'evil' about it.

Ugh.. I too also hate that feeling.
One tip to get around sleep paralysis is to keep moving your toes. It works.
The other one would be to start spitting, it sounds funny but I do that sometimes when I'm about to enter that phase to stop it from happening.

Go see a shrink. Sleep paralysis has nothing to do with weird dreams, i get it a few times, its just more of, im awake, eyes closed, cant move body, so i go back to sleep lol, then wake up when ready...

well maybe it was a lot less, but like you said it felt like a lifetime.
Everytime i read something about sleep paralysis i go to bed kinda nervous cuz i don't want it to happen again, it scared me alot.
I also didn't know what the hell it was at the time so for like a year i was sure it was some kind of evil spirit or something in my room hehe.

wow! i never knew this was a common condition. This used to happen to me every night after a night of E. I would fall asleep and then wake up with a loud ringing in my head but i couldnt open my eyes or move for about a minute. It's the main reason I stopped doing E.

Because you watch too many freakin' movies!
and ciao you probably just got through watching Constantine or something.
I've had sleep paralysis and the only time I stat imagining things is if I watch a movie or something really exciting happens in a day. My dad's a border line bible humper and he told me ists the devil trying to steal your soul or something stupid.

I've never had sleep paralysis, knock on wood, but if anybody has ever heard Dredg's album "El Cielo" the concept behind the entire cd is sleep paralysis. Very eye opening, I don't want to have to deal with it.

LOL I did that once woke up and my left arm was completely numb. I must have been really groggy cause the only way I could find it was by starting at my shoulder and working down.

Actually that's not the cause. When we sleep we have various drugs released by our bodies. One of these is a muscle relaxant, another lulls the mind.
When not enough of the first is released the body awakes and we sleepwalk. This is the most common imbalance.
When not enough of the second is released the mind awakes and we experience sleep paralysis. This is less common.
It is a mostly harmless chemical imbalance in the brain. Sorry I can't be more specific but I heard this on a radio article a couple of months ago and it is true.
Don't know how to help you stop it, but I guarantee your not a freak.
