Mountain_Goat's Methyl-E cycle log
After going through a lot of the supplement logs and reading everyone's results etc, I have decided to do a 4 week Methyl-E cycle. I already have the Methyl-E. I bought the 2 bottles of it that bb.com had on sale a little while back...and yes it's the outdated stuff but that doesn't bother me. I'm still deciding on my support supplements and the PCT stuff. I'll place that order with bb.com tomorrow or Friday to make sure it's here on time.
A little about me. I'm 44. Married and have a 6 year old at home. My wife trains as well when she has time but nothing hardcore. We are both pretty active outside of the gym too.
I have been lifting weights since high school on and off over the years. I have been consistently training and have belonged to the same gym for about 5 years now. My bodyweight and BF% have gone up and down over the years depending on my diet. Hey I love to eat so sometimes I'm really good and sometimes we make a trip to Dairy Queen. LOL. For this cycle I intend to be very disciplined in my diet.
I train first thing in the morning on my way to work. So I'm usually in the gym by 5:30am.
My current routine:
Monday - Bi's and Tri's
Tuesday - Legs
Wednesday - Chest
Thursday - Back
Friday - Shoulders and Traps
Saturday - Forearms and Calves because I never have enough time to hit them during the week.
I do abs 1-3 times per week. I do slow cardio several times a week and will be more disciplined over the next 8 weeks. It's been so darned cold here lately that I haven't gotten outside to get it in. So I'll hit the treadmill after my workout for 45 min at 3.2 MPH 4.5% incline. I sometimes hit the elliptical at home in the evenings and may add that as well depending on my BF%.
I try not to worry about what the scale says and usually only weigh myself every 3 weeks or so. But I'll try to check my weight once a week to see how it varies. I go more by the mirror and how I look in and out of my clothes.
My specific body part exercises have varied and I change things up quite often. I'll keep roughly the same routine during the cycle itself just to see what progress I make in my lifts. I keep my reps in the 8-10 range for pretty much everything. I have done heavy/moderate/light days and cycles in the past but they never worked for me so I just stick to the 8-10. If I can do 12 reps consistently on any one exercise, I raise the weight. If I can't get 8. I drop the weight for the next set. This was something I learned from Lee Labrada a while back and it works well for me.
My strength is good. I don't try to find out how much my 1 rep max is for anything for the most part. I'm at a point in my life where the last thing I worry about is how much I can bench or whatever. I train to feel good and to look good. The last thing I want to do is hurt myself. I have had injuries and trust me the older you get....the longer it takes to recover from those.
Like I mentioned I am still deciding on extras and PCT. Right now in my bb.com cart I have:
Anabolic Innovations Post Cycle Support
ErgoPharm 6-OXO
Designer Supplements ActivaTe Xtreme
Designer Supplements Lean Xtreme
Nature's Science Milk Thistle
Oh and some new lifting gloves. LOL.
I have read all of the PCT data here in several logs and posts. I do not see any reason to buy and use a SERM for this cycle along with the stuff I will already be using.
I have seen some folks mention using the Cycle Support product. I am still going back and forth on that one. I would be interested to hear opinions either way.
Any feedback is appreciated. I have been training for a long time and I know what works in the gym and in my diet. This is the first crack at something like Methyl-E but I want to see what it does for me. I'm not sure what my expected results are yet.
I would like to put on about 8lbs of lean mass and then post cycle I want to use the "cut diet" to see how low I can get my BF%. I don't have a way to measure that currently but looking in the mirror I'm guessing 18%. I have visible abs and definition but not shredded.
My weight was about 218lbs when the wife and I had some photo's done at www.bodyphotage.com in November. Our Christmas present to each other. It was fun. I'll post a pic so folks can see what I looked like then. I'm at about 222lbs right now.
I would like to get to around 228lbs...MAYBE 230lbs but certainly no higher than that and I would like to lean back down to about 215 if I have added some decent mass. 210lbs would be ideal IMO.
My diet is decent from day to day.
I get about 50 grams of protein and some oats for carbs preworkout.
50-60 grams of protein and a few more carbs via oats postworkout. I have been using the control labs sups (white flood, green mag, purple wrath) pre and during workout. I add some creatine mono post workout.
A few hours later I get a meal in protein carbs in the 40-50 gram range.
Then another meal of protein and some sort of fat...fish oil or something.
Then another meal when I get home from work. This one varies due to family dinners.
Then I get some casein type of protein source before bed.
I TRY to keep it clean on the weekends too. But having a wife who loves to eat like I do...and a picky 6 year old sometimes messes up those plans.
But I will certainly try harder over the next several weeks.
I'll post progress and general how I think it's going as often as I can. I'm a telecom engineer...so meetings and other crap during the day sometimes keep me from doing more fun things...LOL.
Lots of great folks and advice on here and I'm looking forward to the interaction.
Cheers!!

I'm going to go ahead and place the order today and just go with what I have in my cart for now. I'll add another order later on if it looks like I'll need something else. I'm going to kick off the Methyl-E at
Day 1-3 10 mg
Day 4-7 20 mg
week 2 20 mg
week 3 30 mg
week 4 30 mg maybe bump to 40mg for the last few days depending on how I feel.
I'll start the first day on Saturday Feb 2nd.

subscribed. I was reading over this thread here -> http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=526986 about various PCT and what not and come to the conclusion you did above. Still havent decided fully on what I'll do yet, but I got in on that sale as well. I plan on starting the Monday after the Superbowl (or tuesday) because I know I'll be having a few drinks that night.

Hey fffizzz,
Yeah the whole PCT thing is somewhat confusing. Lots of science and lots of speculation and I'm sure it depends somewhat on your test levels to begin with. Good luck with your cycle! It will be interesting to compare notes. I guess the rest of my order will arrive this Saturday. Man I sure love the shipping times with bb.com since they switched to fedex. So I am really tempted to start my cycle now instead of waiting another week.

The PCT and supports sups arrived from bb.com today. I'm going to stick with my planned start date of Feb 2nd but it sure is tempting to get the party started a little sooner.

Woot! It's getting close ... Heh, I am usually like a drug addict when I get all my stuff. When I order it I am all sweaty and nervous, then I get it in the mail and the wait just kills me. Then I set it all up and look at it and ****... Then, when it's finally time to start and I have to start logging it it's like a big letdown! LOL. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the results of hard work but it's not nearly as much fun as the planning and receiving stages ...
Besides the 2nd is just around the corner. Good luck man! I'll be following it. Feel free to ask any questions.

Hey thanks for all the support and advice! Much appreciated! Yeah I was pretty pumped when everything showed up. But I'll stick to my plan. It's only a week away. I'll get into clean eating mode starting Monday...hey the wife is making a roast tomorrow so I just gotta eat it.

Back to eating clean starting today. My workout this morning was strong. Probably more or a mental thing knowing I have the stuff in cupboard waiting for me to start the cycle. I notice some folks raise the weight after the first set and so on. I always tend to lift less as my sets continue on certain exercises.
Arms today
Biceps
EZ Bar Curls
1x20 70lbs warm up.
2x10 100lbs
2x10 90lbs
Seated inclined DB curls
4x10 40lbs each
Preacher Hammer Strength One Arm Curls
4x10 each arm 45lb plate
Cable/Rope Hammer Curls
4x10 100lbs
Triceps
V-Bar Press Downs
1x20 80lbs warm up
4x10-12 Entire stack (I forget what the stack is in this machine 140lbs or 150lbs)
Smith Machine Close Grip Press
4x10 160lbs of plates (1-45, 1-35 each side)
Seated Machine Triceps Extensions
4x10 160lbs stack
Reverse Grip Triceps Cable Press Downs w/straight bar.
4x90 lbs stack
I did 30 minutes of slow cardio 3.2mph 4.5% incline I was going to do 45 minutes but I needed to get in to work this morning and get some stuff done.

Leg Day.
Leg's have always been one of my least favorite things to train. If I would blow off any training day...legs would be it. But. I intend to change that. I moved legs from Friday to Tuesday so I am less likely to skip it. I have hit them consitently for the last 6 weeks so I think it's working.
Quads
2x20 Individual leg extensions for warm up.
1x18 135lbs Squats warm up.
4x10 225lbs Squats. ATG. I hadn't had squats as a regular leg day exercise until the wife bought me one of those "Manta Ray" devices. It has helped me a LOT. No more neck pain and I feel like I have better balance as well. My squats aren't as strong as my other lifts but I feel stronger each time and today was a good day there.
4x10 50lbs/side Individual leg extensions. This particular machine is one of those...I call them "humbler". You can't put on the massive weights like on some machines. I can do 6 plates on the regular leg extension. But doing one at a time on this thing and 50 is about all I can throw on it.
4x10 7plates per side leg press. I felt good on this today. I don't put on a lot of weight so I go slow and as far to my chest as I can.
4x10 45lbs each hand lunges.
Hams
4x10 170lbs Lying leg curl
4x10 155lbs Stiff Leg Deads. I do these on a platform and goes down to my hands touchig the tops of my shoes then not fully errect on the way up. Again slow and go for a good stretch in my hams. I don't want to feel much if anything in my lower back.
5x10 I forget the weight on this machine. Seated leg curls.
Then I did 30 minutes on the treadmill 3.2mph 4.5% incline. I'll try and get in a strong 45 minute walk today if it doesn't start snowing before lunch time.
Kind of tired today. I didn't sleep well last night.

Heh, I love leg day! Squats are one of my favorite exercises and I love to see how wore out I can get my legs. Will I fall flat on my face walking down the stairs out of the gym? A few times I have had to hold the rail and walk sideways to get down the stairs. That's whan i know i have had a good leg night!
Keep it up bro!

Thanks Bro! Yep I have had several leg days lately where getting out of a chair causes whimpers for the next few days. LOL. I didn't realize how my leg strength and size was lacking until I started doing squats every time. It's already made a big difference. The first 10 minutes or so on the treadmill was rough. No walk today at lunch time. Frickin hurricane wind + 18 degrees = no fking way!

Im not sure. I am keeping a written log for now. I had a log of my H-drol/Prop cycle on here. Im thinking I may just do a post of starting/ending numbers and thoughts. I got tired of typing every lift.
But starting / ending stats are always fun to look at as well as side effects. Leads to good discussions and helps others decide on different combos.

Cool. I agree. I can't see myself logging every single workout. I just want to get a record of my before maybe middle and after lifts to see what the differences are. I hardly ever get on the scale but I'll weigh myself on Friday morning before I kick off the cycle.

Yep. Those are the ones I bought. Heck of a good deal. To be honest I haven't even looked at the dates on my bottles. Someone in a different post mentioned the bottles that they recieved were outdated and someone else chimed in with the same thing. Dedicatedforlif contacted bb.com and was told is was a misprint on the bottles. I'm not worried either way.

Chest today. I was a little off this morning. I didn't sleep well the night before and it caught up with me a bit. I hit the snooze a couple of times this morning before heading out. I still had a good workout but I could tell I wasn't 100% I try to not let that thought get into my head because I'll back off on poundages and reps if I do.
I got there late so no one I trust to spot be on BB Bench Press so I used the smith machine
Smith BB Press
4x10@2-45lb's and 1-25lbs per side
Incline DB Press
2x10@85lbs each hand
2x10@80lbs each hand
Cable Cross Overs Hitting more mid/lower
4x10@70lbs plates
Dips
4x10@BW (there used to be a weight belt laying around but I haven't seen it in a while, I want to add some weight and push myself a little more)
Incline DB Flies
4x10@50lbs
30 Minutes on the treadmill at 3.2MPH 4.5% Incline.

So far this is just a baseline. I don't start the cycle until this weekend. I'll let ya know either way though.

Back day. It's frickin cold this morning and it snowed a few inches overnight. The roads were an icey mess. UGH.
I got to the gym and was pretty fired up today.
Seated Hammer Strength One Arm Rows
1x20@90lbs per side warm up.
4x10@180lbs per side. Feeling good today.
Hammer Strength Close Grip High Pull Downs
4x10@135lbs per side
Olympic Bar With Close Grip Handle (empty end against a wall corner) Someone put this there a while back and I like using it better than the T-Bar Row.
4x10@155lbs plus whatever the end of the bar weighs.
Seated Behind the Neck Cable Pull Downs
4x10@160lbs stack.
Angled Hyper Extensions
4x12@45lbs plate (holding it in front)
Seated Hyperextensions. I forget the machine brand.
4x10@270lbs stack.
With the snow and crappy roads I skipped the treadmill to get on the road. Maybe I'll have time for a walk at lunch time or I'll swang back by the gym later.

Shoulders today.
Good workout. Nothing crazy. My shoulders are probably my best body part and easiest for me to work. I have been doing hammer strength presses or something similar. I decided to switch it up for the start of my cycle and do seated DB presses.
Decided to warm things up first.
1x20@30lbs lateral raises
4x10@35lbs lateral raises
4x10@55lbs DB presses (it felt a little awkward since I haven't done these in a while so I didn't go any higher in weight)
4x10@110 lbs stack reverse peck deck
4x10@30lbs DB front raises
4x10@320lbs Hammer Strength Shrugs
I felt like I could go another few sets of something else. Sometimes I'll hit a machine and do more presses with dropped sets.
But....tomorrow I'm going to do the American Gladiator tryouts in Boulder, CO. I may be nuts and it could be a long day but it's something I can tell my grandkids someday. LOL. So I didn't want to be crazy sore.
I did 3.2mph 4.5% incline for 45 minutes on the treadmill.
Tomorrow is M-day! I'm excited to get started.

Day 2. Nothing to report other than I went to the American Gladiators tryouts yesterday. Me and about 2000 of my closest friends. LOL. It was a LONG day. Got there at 8. Doors opened at 10am. Didn't even get in the doors until noon. Way underestimated the amount of food I would need for the day. The standing, sitting, waiting took it's toll on everyone around me. Finally got to the physical challenge portion at 6pm. Yep. That's right 6pm. I was contestant #431. Whew.
The physical part looked easy but man it was tougher than I expected. It was fun though and I'm glad I went.
Today is my off day from the gym and am just going to relax and do some chores around the house and play with my kiddo.
Looking forward to getting back in the gym Monday morning!

I was tired when I woke up this morning. My right knee hurts a little after sitting around all day Saturday at the Gladiator Tryouts. It will work itself out though. If it's not snowing today I'll get in a walk at lunch time. I felt really good after I started training. The pumps are really good today so I'm looking forward to bumping to 20mg tomorrow. Zero sides so far. I'm sleeping well. Hunger seems to be up a little. That could be due to my weird eating schedule on Saturday as well so I'll see how it goes with my normal diet over the next day or so and I may adjust my eating accordingly.
So far so good!

Looking good man. It takes about two weeks to fully start to feel the eddects from the Methyl-E. When it hits though, you will feel it and you will know it too. Keep lifting hard!

Thanks Bro! I think the tiny strength gains I felt today were 100% mental. Still a decent day at the gym for sure. I am really looking forward to the full affect!
