When u workout (lift weights) do u burn fat? Is it possible to lose fat while gaining muscle?

well somewhat yes... you are working and raising your heartrate so you are burning calories, increasing metabolism as well... but chances are unless you have outside sources aiding in fat loss, being in a calorie deficient state is how you lose fat and being in a calorie surplus is how you gain fat and muscle.

When you are lifting, you are depleting your glycogen and phosphocreatine reserves to fuel ATP to utilize your muscles. Once glycogen reserves are depleted, your body will start metabolizing fat while working through B-oxidation to the citric acid cycle pathways to generate ATP. When doing cardio, this only happens after 25-30+ minutes or so which means unless you are lifting constantly for that amount of time (which you won't be), then you won't be burning any fat during a workout.
The upside of working out is that you will gain muscle which DOES burn extra calories that will help you metabolize fat. Similarly, working out will also increase your metabolism which will also help you burn fat. Therefore, workout out will not help you burn fat directly but moreso indirectly.
