Rippetoe for cutting
Rippetoe + Low cal diet + Cardio on off days
Sound like a good plan or a waste of time?
Thanks in advance.

Rippetoe + Balanced diet that helps lose weight + Cardio any day
Thats What i've been doing for the past 8 weeks and i've made major changes, and i'm improving my diet as I go on by learning little secrets here and there. Rippetoe will help you build the muscle, but the diet is the most important.

IMO good cutting plan for a beginner, large compound moves that work every muscle in a very simple but demanding workout.
Its working for me, been going 3 weeks and seeing some dramatic changes in body composition.

Sounds great. Lift heavy, do low intensity cardio, and eat at a calorie deficient. It's pretty easy.

Higher intensity cardio could lead to your body consuming muscle for energy as opposed to fat, and you'll most likely be pretty low on energy while in a caloric deficit and doing riptoe.

Rippetoe's Starting Strength is a great program for a beginner regradless of if you are bulking or cutting. It will teach you the compound movements, and you will see gains in strength. I did the program for 20 weeks last year and saw great gains and at the same time lost quite a bit of fat.

im using something like the riptoe program while cutting and doing lots of cardio while eating ~2300 cal/day.
My energy level seems to be fine (as long as I stick to my diet), but I am very strict about the food I eat and when I eat them.
I'm only on week two, but I don't seem to be losing any strength....mabe even gaining some.
If you want you can check out my log, I have some details there

I'll agree to this as well. Did it for 10 or 12 weeks last summer and saw good gains in strength as well as fat loss.
