Why do everybody love the Honda Civic?
I know about the gas mileage and 200K, but I didnt know they start off around $17,000-24,000 dollars. I sorry, its just not worth it.

So great saying that when 90% of football fans said the Saints had no chance and were going to be blown out. Maybe now the Saints will get the respect they deserve.

True, but why would everyone want the same vehicle. I'd rather the Scion Cereal Box than a Civic.

Aside from the most commonly riced car, they're an economical car - reliable, affordable, pretty good looking and high resale values.
I'm not sure where you got a base price of 17K USD. It starts at $14,500 USD - Honda.com. That's for the '06 Civic Sedan too. You can almost get a fully loaded Civic w/ the EX trim with lots of goodies for that price range you mentioned.

Putting a wing on it will add 50hp...........
The only thing that annoys me is that most people drive them act as if they have BMW. This kid i used to work with spent 6G on a 1993 civic with 120,000 on it. Why are people stupid enough to get soo ripped off? They are good reliable compact cars, but people should realize it is not a sports car.

It really depends where you spend it though. I mean if he dropped 6gs on a body kit, altezzas, chrome wheels and LEDs running around his car, then yeh. The added weight will probably make his car even slower than it was initially.
But I think if you spend 6gs wisely on that car e.g. turbo, suspension, lowered, etc. It can become a really fun car to drive.

LOL...I was thinking the same thing.
The civic is by far, the most played out and riced out car out there. For some reason, people seem to think that lawnmower engine is fast and those fart cans make those things fast.
This is for all you ricers.

NOS subwoofer = 25 extra HP
I hate it, ****in JAP CRAP. Hate all jap cars, especially jap hatch backs. I know when you get to the top end jap cars you probably wont find anything that tunes better than them. But come on... I would rather spend £15g-20g on a crazy power Escort Cosworth than a brand new Honda Civic Type R ANY day of the week...
People in the UK especially seem to think that theres no way of getting insurance on a fast car. one of my best friends drives an RS turbo with 230HP, 300ft/lbs (no pub figures, dynoed ) and he's only 19. He's completely legit, he payed for the car him self and is under his mums insurance on it (3rd party fire and theft) together they pay less than £1500, and he's registered with it left on a road in a crummy neighbourhood. I know people who spend that much on a 1 litre mini metro.
Hate the jap crap racer scene. I blame Max Power for it!

thats exactly my point. sure i like the civics, but i dont wanna have a car that everyone else has. im about to get a 94 corolla with about 3000 miles on it (not 30,000) and am kinda regretting it cause of its popularity.

That's just an opportunity cost. e.g. Why not save $100 or $200 in supplements a month and do something else with it? Because you want to get big.
When cars are your hobby, you'll drop anything into them. I'm sure there are people who'd rather drive something that was tuned to something then buy something at that specification.

I drive an '02 Civic. I don't think it's "badass" by any means, nor do I pretend it is. If I could get something nicer, I would, but as far as the car itself goes, it's never gave me any problems. I think the newer ones are ugly though.

Why the hate?
Down here we get both groups: the car enthusiasts who buy decent japanese cars (Supra's, Skylines, EVO's, STI's ect) and then the ricers who get a Lancer and rice it out completely.
For those who dont know, Mitsubishi Lancers are small 1.6 litre NA sedans which are based around the EVO series. Some people use this as a reason to put a bodykit, exhuast ect so they can make it look like a real EVO. Its actually quite common. These cars dont even put out 100hp yet you see people spending $10,000 on them even though they're worth that much stock.
Ricers just ruin the image.
