P90x

We have probably all noticed that with the January New Years Resolution season upon us, there have been the usual barage of garbage about fitness pills, programs and equipment to cash in on the familiar "this year I'm gonna get fit" vows.

I happened to stumble across P90X, which seems to be a 90 day program that focuses mainly on muscle confusion and variation of activities. I have finally after nearly 4 months of surgery rehab and physical therapy for a complete tear of my rotator cuff been given the yellow light from my surgeon to resume light training. This program seems to be a good way to burn off the weight I've accumulated (almost 20 pounds) during the last 6 months.

The defining moment that really sold me on it was the trainer (Tony Horton) who at age 47 looks absolutely astounding, full of energy, upbeat and lean. Has anyone else had that one single visual moment when you see someone somewhere that rekindles and fires you up to keep improving or to let you know that it really can be done?

I let myself get depressed, unmotivated and generally ****ty to be around. I have been feeling sorry for myself for getting hurt and have used it as an excuse to overeat and drink. Today, I decided I'm back...no more bull****, no more whining...I will post the embarassing state of condition that I am in right now later tonight and then I will use all this stored up anxiety to get further than I have ever been before - wish me luck, I'm stoked to get it back and then get even further.

Thanks, I've missed being here and checking in, but I've felt like a total fraud. I wasn't behaving the way I know I should have been. I didn't feel like I belonged here giving advise or offering encouragement when I wasn't walking the walk. I didn't deal well with the adversity that the injury threw at me and I'm not very proud of it.

Hey man.... been wondering where've you been. Sorry to hear about the injury. Yeah, so you let things get to you... it's human. You're a pro at this so now that you are back on track you know what you need to do and how to do it..... you'll be back to "above normal" in no time.

When I started I was about 35lbs overweight and had absolutely no clue how to diet and train. I lost the weight in about 4 months, and although it took me a while to get to a point with my WO where there is some rime or reason to them, I was still able to do it. Like I said, in your case you should be to your old self soon.... keep us posted. Maybe start a journal so we can follow the progress.

thank you, the positive peer pressure that I find here has always been empowering. I don't think I really have a choice about getting back to it, it's been in my blood all my life and I would only be miserable and fall back into bad habits if I didn't pick myself up and get back to it.

Lets see..... You're 44, added 20 lbs and took a few months off. I'd say your odds of getting back into where you were will take about the same number of months as you took off. Don't dissapoint me.

P90x

Hi everyone,
Brand new to this site and to bodybuilding in general. First off I'd like to say good job to Greystoke. It takes alot to overcome a serious injury and you are doing it. Keep up the good work. I have seen the infomercial for P90X alot. I am actually waiting for mine to come so I can get started on it. From what I have seen on tv and read about it, it seems like a great workout system. I think you may want to go slow though. It seems VERY high intensity. Alot of pushups/pullups. Just be careful with your shoulder. Look forward to talking to everyone often out here.

Remember that last statement in your original post. You've done it and you know you can do it, and go beyond. Now just be sure that you will do it. Remember how good it feels to get really pumped.

Good luck and great job getting back.

I have p90x...the DVDs...

Great workouts that will....

1. Burn Fat
2. Build Muscle
3. Get veins popping in your arms, and cut you up...depending on your DIET...

USE supplements and eat enough FOOD....you will NEED THE ENERGY

Good luck and enjoy....
