Get rid of the posing trunks!

I know I'm probably gonna get stoned for this but here goes:
I have nothing against bodybuilders posing in whatever tiny trunks they wish - and to be honest it does'nt bother me or put me off.
Now I am currently building some muscles and wish to (maybe) someday compete.
BUT you will not catch me DEAD in the posing trunks these gusy are wearing - it is just not me! I am sorry - forget it - no wayz!
Now the problem is that this immediately take me out of the loop to ever compete because the only way I'll go on stage ever is in a boxer size trunk like a neat short pants kinda thing...(call me what you want - but this is me!)
This bring me to my next point:
Most of my friends is not in bodybuilding at all and they think bodybuilding compo's is the biggest joke - wanna know why? - number one reason because of the tiny posing trunks.
Making a bodybuilding compo more flexible regarding trunk choice can just add to the sport and it's credibility from ignorant outsiders and may just make it able for me to compete oneday...
Am I alone on this...?

bulletproofsoul - I know what you were gonna say - That's fine - create some flexibility in dividing up how the compo's work and have a division for those guys that wanna show their insertions/bums, whatever they wanna show - but leave some space for guys feeling differently - and I stick to my point it will make a big impact on the credibility of bodybuilding compos with ignorant outsiders...

Yeah look at this pic...look at the guy(Frank Zane) on the left and the guy(Markus Ruhl) on the right. Frank Zanes trunks look soo much better than Ruhls super skinny ones.

The point is to show to the judges your legs. With boxers on you can't judge the legs properly because they are concealed.

All I am saying is make the sport more flexible to cater for guys who feel like I do - I/we have nothing against the tiny brigade - but allow some space - and the pics lready posted shows the point that it's not really gonna cover anyimportant muscles...!

I dont have a prob with frank zanes or arnolds trunks. I just dont think that boxer trunks, like the long ones, are realistic for a bodybuilding comp.

I actually like frank zane's posing trunks better than ruhl's

Yeah I gotta say, male gluteal development doesn't interest me, even when it's impressive, it's gross. I prefer the Arnolds too. They allow for adequate leg judging without having to tolerate a buncha ripped male asses on stage. I don't doubt the thong thing is driving some fans away from the sport.

Bump on this. I always preferred the larger cut trunks that Arnold wore. I just don't like them other ones. It's too much like they are wearing a g-string...

Why does it matter? You will look more out of place if you wear something bigger...and you might not get judged properly because of it. I honestly don't see what the big deal is?

CaGray88 - Ask any average guy in the street what he thinks of another guy wearing a speedo - you will not hear positive comments - bodybuilders onstage wear significantly less than the "standard" speedo. I'm sorry but bottom line - the average dude does not think much of the bodybuilders posing in their tiny trunks - it takes a LOT of credibility away from the sport plus there are (maybe a lot?) people out there that wanna get involved but is not prepare to prank around in these tiny trunks. EVERY normal guy likes muscles, but VERY FEW like these tiny trunks!
We're all different man - so why not make provision for that and give the sport a higher credibility rating?
A compo can be set up in such a fashion that a competitor will not be marked down for bigger trunks - have a open section where the dudes can show of with their tiny trunks if they want too.
And why is it bothering me know? - because I actually thinking of competing oneday but NOT in these tiny trunks.

Do any (straight) guy finds the bum muscles of another guy appealing? It looks disgusting no matter how good it is...(just my opinion)

It doesn't matter what the average joe on the street thinks. Bodybuilding comps are for evaluating ones muscles....not to gain credibility from the non-bodybuilders. Posing trunks are worn to show off as much of the muscle as possible so they can evaluate you correctly. They are not going to make an exception because some people are embaressed to wear posing trunks and to gain higher credibility by the average joe. Well, you know what.....I might be looking at guys but I'm not evaluating them in a sexual way so it doesn't matter.

Well, I can't comment on how small it has to be because I'm not a judge. "Normal dudes" arn't competing. If the muscle can be judged properly I think it's fine but I don't know how flexible can be allowed because like I said...I'm not a judge.

i would prefer to go on stage naked than wear those posing trunks. no joke

they could judge the whole package.

Still stick to my point: Get the mainstream into bodybuilding - accomodate the "average" dude (me!) and be more flexible with posing trunk size BUT PLEASE force the wearing of trunks the keep stonefox and tetsuo of stage!

You said "normal dudes aren'nt competing so therefor we do not consider them." (if I undertsood your statement correct...)

My question - have you EVER heard of any dude who does'nt like muscles? - ALL like to be built well even if it is just a model look - muscles is important to EVERY man. Don't you think if the "stigma" or part thereoff can be removed (and believe me these tiny trunks create a stigma!) then MANY more Joe average will be interested (since it is more "manly" for him and not so weird anymore) = more money = bigger sport = everyone scores! ...and all it take is a little flexibility from the people controlling the sport.
I know not me or you will get them to change but can't we get the discussion started at least...
