how much casein do you take in before bed?

Well I was just wondering how much(assuming you do) casein you guys take in before hittin the bed.

Lately, I've been mixing in a scoop of casein with 2 glasses of skim milk before bed. This roughly comes to about ~40g of protein

Also, I eat some cottage cheese with this shake so that adds to a total of ~50g of protein before bed.

    How about you guys?

-Side note: I've noticed a great reduction in muscle soreness after taking in this much protein before bed, but the amount of sleep(9+ hours) may also be another factor aiding in my recovery.

30 - 40 grams of protein is the most many people can absorb at one time. One shake will do it.

actually its more like 50 grams per hour.. youre fine. especially with cassein protein, which digests very slowly, and hence isnt all absorbed in an hour. you could probably get away with like 70 grams of cassein protein since it takes several hours to fully digest

70 grams? No way, thats about double what most people can take effectively. You've got to be an absolute monster to be able to handle that much in one sitting.

this isnt whey protein, its cassein. whey goes down and into the system in under an hour. that's why you cant take more than 40-50 grams of it effectively at a time.

cassein protein on the other hand, takes several hours to digest, meaning 70 grams would be able to digest over the course of the night

I just pound a muscle milk shake. I can't really stand the taste of cottage cheese. I think there is about 32g of protien in a MM shake. I'm with Spuddy though, you could probably take closer to 60 or 70 grams. Your metabolism slows down at night, and casein digests slower so...

about 16oz of milk with a scoop of whey. I'm too retarded to buy casein yet. I always end up thinking it'll be more expensive. When really I'll be using whey less, so really it will cost the same. ....
