    Hi there all,

A couple of beers now and again, will not hurt you, however them calories in the beers are empty calories and will turn into fat, all depends how many you drink, average 200 calories in a pint of beer, times that by 8 twice per week, is 3200. As long as it’s not overdone a few beers are ok.

    ONLY friday and saturday?........LOL

thats two out of every 7 days......hhhmmm lets do the math here......

that works out to be about 28-29% of all days of the year......thats almost one day out of every 3 you will be drinking......

thats about 104 days a year you will drink......all that beer turns into fat VERY EASILY !!!!

so back to your origional question......."Will Drinking Beer Effect much ? "

my answer would be yes.......i know thats not the answer your hoping for......but its reality wether you like it or not......but its your body and your decision to make

It really depends on how much you drink. 2 beers may put you out of wack for 2 hours; 10 is enogh to influence hormones and hurt you the next day. It also depends on how close you are to your peak. If you are more highly trained the detriment will be more substantial. And drinnking is more than the calories in the drink-there is laziness that accompanies it.

this may seem like a stupid question but what about hard liquor such as vodka or rum? How many calories are in those since there isnt any nutritional label on grey goose or bacardi.

it is not just the calories you have to be concerned with.....

    - dehydration
    - low test levels
    - fatigue

He's abolutely correct. Unless you are one in a million who can drink 1-2 beers per week, you will be impacted negatively by drinking. The effects are subtle but compound over time leading to premature plateaus and higher propensity for injury. This is 100% my opinion, but being a former lush and having experienced some injuries related to dehydration and toxic buildup in muscle tissue, I feel pretty confident about it.

I just asked this question in another forum.

What would be the best and least harmful drink, if you had to pick one. Nevermind beer.

I believe it's wine. Right? (but what guys here drink wine lol... I'm a girl btw)

Do you have any references for this claim? I can't believe there would be any harmful effects from light/moderate drinking, other than weight gain of course. Heavier drinking no doubt will be harmful.

No, just my own ****ty experience. Rationalizing it didn't work for me. I wouldn't recommend it.

Read this, it explains it well. Its not just about the calories. Its more about what alcohol does in your body.

    http://www.thefactsaboutfitness.com/...ch/alcohol.htm

Twice a week WILL affect your progress (for the average person). Try maybe twice a month?

Oh please. It is you who needs to reread my post. I'm talking about a maximum of 1-2 drinks maybe a few times per week. I think you are wrong about the adverse effects of drinking in this light range. I doubt that you can find any references to back up your claims. Again, the only problem I can see with an occaisional 1-2 drinks is weight gain - maybe. And let us not forget that moderate drinking actually enhances overall health and increases life expectancy.
