Hey everyone i've just recently started working out and i quit drinking ive been working out for about 3 days now and each im getting more and more sore am i working to hard? thx.

That's good to hear, to stay motivated choose a goal, a good workout routine and diet regime that fits your goal.

If you also recently quit drinking don't just stop it forever my doctor said that i must drink at least once per week because if i didn't i might have problems like blackout and others, so before you totally quit lower your alcohol dose to 90% but don't stop it like that, my advice.

I now only drink on weekends and sometimes only twice per month.

well you can start having a beer (or glass of any alcohol you used to drink) once per week for like 2 or 3 months after if you feel that your body is adjusted to this current dose and your body is not craving for more alcohol then you can drink once every 2 weeks. I did this last summer and last winter i used to drink like once per month but now you know it's summer so i only drink once per week with friends on events (2 glasses maximum).

Soreness is normal. For me the key to less sore is to stretch well before during and after. More so between sets.

Agree.

Christianity is about SERVING others not being self indulged.

I think it is easy for bodybuilders to be more concerned about self than Jesus set an example of.

Bottom line...

...'Physical fitness is of SOME value'....which to me is saying

God wants us to do our best to be in shape, take care of what He gave us....MAYBE help others do that....

but thats it...

The focus should be on the totality of your life....

Im not trying to single you out or put you down or hijack your thread....

Im just reacting, as a Christian, to the premise....

I believe 100% that if Jesus were here in 2008, physically present, He would NOT be supportive of people showing off their bodies in bikinis and speedos.
He WOULD be supportive of taking care of your body, eating right, helping others do it....

Just my humble (Christian) opinion....

Went to Guatemala last week on a mission trip and one of the ladies that went cut her hand on a rock and it got infected. She gas a steep infection in her arm and its not healing like it should. I'm asking you to pray for her healing. Thanks

I really like this song because God's love is so pure. No hidden agendas. No motives. He doesn't only give it, if we give Him something. He loves us despite the mistakes we make, and have made. I have strayed from God, and every time I do, I always come up empty. Whatever or whoever has pulled me away, has never measured up to God's love for me. If anything, I am left saying...'I turned my back on God...for this? Ugh.

Guess lessons sometimes have to be painful, lest we would forget them.

No offense or anything but i really hope you guys don't believe religion 100%. You have to believe in something. I believe in all of them and tend to make up my own. To me it seems a bit false trying to live the life destined for someone else but hey it's a free society.

Really well thanks. Just started my new job. It's a low paying one, but luckily my overhead is proportional to it. I'm also looking forward to starting school in a little under two weeks!

Nice to see some fellow Christians on this site! We must remain careful not to put ourselves before God, but stay humble. I think we can all agree this is hard when you are getting new muscle curves every week and you find yourself wasting lots of time looking in the mirror! Haha!

I hope some of you are trying to share your faith with others, I know it can be challenging as I struggle with it myself. The impact we can have on others in a gym could be substantial if they see that we can love God and continue to work out and better ourselves. Especially to those of you who are huge, you wind up being a role model to people who you have never talked to. Perhaps even a Christian T-shirt could save a life in the gym.

Remember, people are always watching us Christians, we must stay faithful, righteous, and true so that our lives will be a living testimony to others!

I also abstain from all substances. Never had a drink, a drug, or a smoke. Never will.

So I end up relating with a lot of Christians. My best pal is.

My work out motivation is something else entirely though. It is purely Darwininan. To earn the right to exist and the right to eat.

Graduated from there in 09, great school. HIGHLY updated gym the year I left. Haven't been back in a while, but keep an open mind, don't get too sucked in to the Christian bubble that the school is and you'll be great. I learned a ton and my walk grew immensely, but it's very easy to get sucked in to a "higher than thou" attitude and forget what Christianity is all about. Hey! So nice to see other Christians on here. I am huge on taking care of our bodies and being fit to serve God, not just spiritually but physically-being ready to go where we're called without having to make excuses for ourselves because we've neglected our bodies and have lived based on impulse.

I feel called to start a boot camp for teen girls under that same premise of taking care of our bodies and being prepared for anything God calls us to (in combination with a Bible study to develop our inner beauty and character, as well). I thought about doing a bikini competition just for the purpose of being able to say, "If I can accomplish this after having 3 kids, you can do it!" but I'm having a really hard time consolidating my faith with walking around half naked on a stage and getting my physical appearance judged when God says that he judges our hearts and a woman's beauty should be evident in a womans heart and character, not in her outer appearance. After all the modesty and expectations I have placed on my daughters, it seems counter-productive to put myself out there to be judged and admired when I constantly stress the importance of being respectful of your own body so others will respect you. I just don't have peace about it. Truly, the shape I'm in should be motivator enough, with or without a bikini or fitness competition under my belt. Whether or not a panel of judges agrees, I've still accomplished a lot, regardless of the fact that I've had three kids and that should be motivation enough for these girls, right?

Use it or lose it! I have a very similar outlook on physical fitness. It's ludicrous how people will see some double-amputee and not feel gratitude for their able bodies (in addition to sympathy, of course.) People generally don't earn their keep, or at least from what I observe they don't. Then again I'm quite cynical Will have to work on that.

Well, about a week into my cut now. Most of the weight I've lost is clearly water, but I'm still down about ~10lbs. Weighing in @ 186lbs now, 15% bodyfat. Goal is 8%, which means my target weight is roughly 170lbs if I'm able to keep all of my lean mass.
