CREATINE - Help with cycle
I recently purchased my first batch of creatine. I have always taken protein but decided that it was time I started taking creatine after reading numerous articles. I have heard several different people talk about how they take creatine. Some go 6 weeks on 6 weeks off. Others do the loading period of a week then 4 weeks of maintaining then 4 weeks off, others just take it all the time.
How would you suggest I go about taking creatine for the first time, and what are the advantages of it?

I take pre and post workout doses for six weeks, followed by four weeks off. I found that works best for me, you have have to "experiment" yourself.

you should cylce everything you take even protein... Id say 6 and 6 is good. if you dont cycle your body just adapts to always having it and it becomes useless and can cause kidney probs

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/likness2.htm
here's an article on creatine cycling.... (see above)
I'm not a creatine taker myself, but I've heard that most people like to cycle monohydrate creatine, as well as "load" it into their bodies (taking a different amount of creatine the first few weeks of use than the next few weeks). the other forms of creatine, like the ethyl ester and the akg, are a little bit easier on the body, and some people do not cycle those.
again, though, like everything... if you do it too consistently your body will get used to it, so it's better to change things up every few weeks or months. this applies to food, workouts, and even creatine.
hey have you tried some of the protein powders with creatine already built in? they are a good way to give your body a lower dose of creatine, so that might be something you could add to your cycle.

Do you have any evidence of this? Your suggesting that people take time off of their protein intake? Your body will use what it is given, it doesn't make preferences. I've never heard of people cycling protein (I'm assuming you mean the powder).
If you can provide some sort of evidence then I'll recall my statement, but otherwise it's safe to say that cycling your protein is simply a matter of your opinion and therefore subject to criticism.
