    Help with bulking

Im begining a bulk cycle, and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions about not gaining body fat while I do it. PM me if that is easier. Thanks.

I thought the whole idea of bulking is that you gain both muscle mass and fat ? ...otherwise it would not be called bulking

i always try to add muscle without adding fat,by cutting carbs when i am not active(after 5pm for me) and 45 mins of low intensity cardio on an empty stomach 3-4 times per week, works well for me,after 5pm my meals are meat/veggies ex it 35 minutes time (9pm) i will have a 16oz sirloin with steamed carrots.

Your best bet for limiting fat gains on a bulk is doing a clean bulk. Read this thread, in particualr post 6...

    http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...ighlight=clean

BTW, if someone could choose to bulk and gain pure muscle they would love it. But its a lot easier to gain a good deal of muscle when you bulk and gain some fat too. Believe me, if pro BBers could just gain muscle and not gain fat, they would defintley do so. Its just not very effiecent to get too worried about fat gains when you want to pack on serious muscle mass.

This is strictly my take on gaining mass and bulk cycles. People are way to afraid of adding a little fat to their bodies during a bulking cycle. Concern yourself with ONE goal at a time. Adding muscle mass and dieting are two seperate goals. You want to worry about getting bigger muscles or do you want to worry about a little fat that will come off during another cycle? Clean bulks work for the gifted, not the norm. Many lifters would benifit by increasing their healthy fats and lowering their carb intake during a mass cycle. Go back to your college Biology 101 text and look at the backbones of lipids and steroids.....Work hard, eat big, get big!

Is there something wrong with having too many carbs while bulking?

IMO there's always a concern for eating toooo many carbs. Carbohydrates have a great roll in our bulking process, but many people are carb sensative and would be better off experimenting with more healthy fats and less carbohydrates. I have experimented with simply exchanging half my daily carbs with nuts. I go to Whole Foods (chain of stores in Ca.) and make up a two pound bag of mixed nuts. Then I eat them instead of brown rice, white potatoes (i hate sweet potatoes) and wheat pasta. I always seem to do this around my powerlifting cycles which requires the most from me. I have more core energy, if that makes sense..

Just my take on the matter..

Dont increase your weight too fast and u wont add too much fat. If u do it too fast yer body just cannot add that much muscle that fast as its limited in how long it takes to adapt based on genetics so if u gain weight too fast u will gain too much fat.
